British Airways Flight Detained at Dulles Airport, Passengers Being Quizzed by Security

D.C. Fox affiliate WTTG-5 reported a few minutes ago that British Airways flight 223 has been detained on the tarmac at Dulles Airport, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.

The flight landed at 7:06 p.m. Passengers have not been allowed to deplane. Some family members waiting at the terminal were able to speak with some of the passengers via cellphone. They were told TSA and other security personnell are interviewing passengers and inspecting luggage.

Over two hundred passengers and crew are on the plane.

I'm surprised they let U.S. passport holders get by without much questioning.

I wonder if we'll find out what it was all about? I'm guessing not, unless what they find is really really big.

It's not all over yet, that I can tell. Most of the passengers have been released to be screened again before they go though customs. Some have made it out of the airport and have spoken to a reporter about the incident.

It's my experience that they keep that kind of stuff under wraps, communicating with secure cellphones.

What if they are trying to figure out which FBI personnel would show up w/alcohol on his/her breath? I wouldn't put that past the FBI.

yes, that does sound like it, sounds like they are trying to intercept people as opposed to it being some threat to the plane or a hijacking. don't expect to hear anything about whether anyone was arrested or detained.
