If they know he's on the flight, then he would probably prefer his 72 virgins than a feces-filled CA jail cell where he might hurt his shoulder.

It just took a turn to the southeast on the "real time" flight map I am looking at.

It gives info on military aircraft?

Military flights squawk their identification and altitude, just like almost every other plane. It's required at that altitude.

Otherwise, civilian air traffic controllers won't know they are there.

You never forget the sound of a B52, once I was in Tempe, AZ, and two of them passed overhead at about 12,000 feet or so, most likely on their last flight to the scrapyard in Eloy. I assumed that not all the engines were fired up and the interior had been stripped to only what was essential to flying. Its an interesting sound, I was amazed that no one else was looking up!

I want to give credit to our security apparatus, for containing/preventing a repeat of 9-11 (thus far) and thus far is the caveat... these diabolical murderers will go to any length to destroy America, including long term imbedding into a foreign airline in order to set up another attack...

True...and our biggest detriment is complacency. If we get complacent, they will strike again, for certain. We must be vigilant and alert and trust that the government thwarts more than we are aware of.

Depends if they trail behind or make themselves visable.

Story: My recently departed father was vectored within sight of Vandenburg AFB during some missle test at night. About 15-20 years ago. Cold War era.

He saw a large rocket lift off in front of him and to the right, and wondered what the hell was going on. Put the fear of God into people on board.

There was no NOTAM, but safety rules were followed- but no one was told about the test because it was secret militry. He was pissed a controller would not tell him to expect a rocket show at his distant 2 o'clock.

Captain probably won't tell if he has a choice.

Then be forced to sign his ranch over to a bunch of infidels?

I just came online and into FR and saw this on the board.....I haven't a clue what's going on yet! (can someone fill me in, besides the obvious that the Air France plane isn't landing?) thanks.

Reno is west of Los Angeles

...and you can win a lot of bar bets on that one, too.

"The world changed on 9-11" is such an understatement... Pondering how closely a passenger and their luggage would be inspected when boarding a packed luxury liner sitting in one of America's deepest ports. One could presumably, fit a tremendous amount of high explosives into typical, large, overseas style luggage.
