I thought I read on a earlier thread that the Greers were standing in two lines.

A elderly customer of mine was at the mall Friday cruising for a parking place. She stopped to let a car back out and had her turn signal on when the driver of a Toyoto Pickup started honking her horn at her to move on. The next minute the Toyo rammed her rear bumper. My friend was smart enough to not get out of her car and challenge this creep.

Granted this is about holiday shopping and what a lousy thing it can be

But I can't understand how some are missing two very big conservative themes in this story

1) The womans whole argument is-- if you don't like something someone says to you (if they diss you), you should be able to beat them a with deadly weapons

2) Had the races been reversed one can only bet that it would not have been hushed up. And more than likely the words hate crime would be involved. But once again because the races are reversed the media plays double standards.

I've been in that section of Chicago and I've been in that particular store.

I have friends who live a little bit west of there. The demographics are predominantly black; working class to middle class. You don't see grafitti, barred windows and groups of unemployed young males loitering about. Expecting to hear of exhorbidant Chicago prices, I was very surprised to learn that in the very nice, very well maintained predominantly black neighborhood (1950's construction)where my friends live, a 2500sqft all brick veneer or stone veneer house on a .25 acre lot with two car garage can be purchased for $90-$100/ft. A train station is within walking distance providing easy access to the downtown district as well as businesses on the very expensive North Side.

I've been in this particular store twice. What I can tell you about the store is that even on an ordinary weekend, it is packed with about 10 customers per checkout. You don't go to that store thinking you're going to quickly go in and out. There's no excuse for what happened and someone needs to spend some time in jail but I hate to imagine the size of the checkout lines at Christmas in that store.

We've all seen and heard of parking space fights and this is just a variant. I've seen whites come to blows over a parking space in a crowded lot. Once, when I was a teenager, I watched two old retired white guys go at each other with golf clubs over a parking space dispute during an Albertsons grand opening. The endless FR threads on this topic is a little disturbing.

Cubs Fan, thanks for helping us all to stay up-to-speed on this completely under-reported story. Under different circumstances, this would receive major coverage from The New York Times, ABCCBSNBCCNN, et al.

• Lennell Greer and accomplice attack pair at Wal-Mart

• Lennell Greer subsequently charged with assault

• Lennell Greer posts 10% of bond

I'm willing to bet a million dollars that skeletons will come out of the closet regarding Lennell Greer and past criminality. A man doesn't live a straight, honest life and then decide to turn into a violent criminal based on a single cellular call. He is no stranger to this sociopathic behavior and I'm confident that additional investigations will prove me right.

The slimy defense lawyers from the infamous firm of Waterstraat, Fisk, Wendouie, Screwem, & Howe will not be able to successfully defend their client in the courts, especially the court of public opinion. It doesn't matter how nasty the discussion was to his family members or whether they felt "dissed and dismissed" at the time, Lennell Greer is wrong for swinging baseball bats at people. His fifteen-year-old cohort is simply a Criminal-In-Training (CIT) who should receive an identical penalty.

Once everything has been sorted in this case, we'll see it had its origins in the simple fact that two white people had the audacity to "call out" two black people on their unacceptable behavior. In this case, the black people became enraged that the white people didn't tuck their tails between their legs (typical Caucasian response) and the situation escalated from there...so they felt compelled to make some righteous calls to their homies.

Not trying to interpret this story as a race thing...but it's a race thing.

Man, Teen Charged With Attacking Shoppers

FOREST PARK, Ill. - A man and a 15-year-old boy were charged with attacking two Wal-Mart shoppers following an altercation in a crowded checkout line on Christmas Eve.

The incident began when a group of women cut in line in front of shoppers Matthew Baures, 22, and Genevieve Gomez, 28, sparking an argument, Police Chief Jim Ryan said.

When Baures and Gomez left the suburban Chicago store, a group of men, including the unidentified teen, confronted them in the parking lot, authorities said.

Baures was punched and kicked, and Gomez was struck when she tried to intervene.
