A London-based Arab magazine said on Friday that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has vowed to launch a back-breaking attack on the US by February, confirming an earlier message by the militant network. The weekly al-Majalla said it received an e-mail from Abu Mohammed al-Ablaj, a little known Al Qaeda member, saying bin Laden would release a video tape in which he affirms his groups determination to fight the US.
A messenger of bin Laden informed him (Ablaj) that the Al Qaeda leader will appear on a televised tape after the execution of an operation which bin Laden described as back-breaking and which would change the order of things, al-Majalla said in a report in its latest edition.
They (Americans) should prepare...their coffins, hospitals and graves. The coming days will be full of surprises and great events which will make them a historic example, the magazine quoted Ablaj as saying. The report came after US officials ordered their colour-coded alert system raised to orange, the second highest level, citing possible year-end attacks.

That's what I think too! Why doesn't he just make a video holding up today's NY Times. I think the reason we haven't said we believe he is dead is because there is nothing to be gained. He becomes a martyr the instant we prove he is dead. This way, we just "keep looking for him". Hope he got his 77 virgins!

I agree. A hit on the US = Mecca or Medina obliterated.

As horrific as the 9-11 attacks were, what made them catastrophic was the burning fuel in the planes that caused the towers to collapse.
I question how a plane that leaves Paris and intentionally crashes in L.A. or Vegas will have much jet fuel left to create similar distruction. True, there will still be deaths and destruction - it just wouldn't be on the scale of the WTC incident.
Since American screening is probably now too stringent and the passengers now hip that they should fight back, I'd be targeting cross-country flights from Vancouver or Montreal or possibly the Caribbean if I were Al Qaeda (which, gladly, I'm not).

Days before 9/11 a key Northern Alliance leader was killed. He would have been a key ally when we went after UBL and crew.
Two attempts have recently been made on Pakistani Pres. Mushareff. If UBL is still in Pakistan, we need Mushareff's help to get him.
I see similar circumstances leading up to another big attack.

I agree. Scenario is similar.
They are mistaken, however, in the same way that they were mistaken regarding Halfgonistan.

They don't need a weapon if we provide it to them.
I hope point air defense is also elevated outside Denver.
The last "bomb threat" was a Denver based outbound flight. Do you know what else is outside of Denver? (@Rocky Mountain Flats).
Heck, you don't want fuel to burn if you hit that stuff.

There are two things to consider: possible targets and possible points of origination or entry. We can't possibly muster the resources to protect all potential targets so it means we need to be diligent to guard all possible points or entry.
Air defense is certainly one part of the equation but they can't be everywhere.
I do think that, if you want to guess where they will strike, look for 1) locations of national strategic or symbolic importance and/or 2) locations with a large Jewish population. So, by that thinking, I still say the most likely targets are New York, Washington, Hollywood and South Florida.

This is the latest AL QUEDA image. Notice the burning stadium in the lower right hand corner. What do you think?

Bunch of 'signifying' nonsense. ......which is what Islamists do when they're impotent.Reminds me a a little dog that the only defense is a shrill bark. These guys see how desperate their cause is. The dems here see the same thing. Only here on our shores we have a president that won't/can't throw the knockout punch probably due to the elites. So don't count on conservative SC justices, don't render the Jessie Jacksons, NEA, ACLU impotent because there are always pubbies there to keep them propped up - that's the strangness of it all.

Makes as much sense as turning Somalia into a giant golf course, which is how one might read the image at the top.

I don't think we would bomb Mecca or Medina for anything less than simultaneous nuclear attacks on ten or twelve cities. We just wouldn't do that. I do wonder, who in hell would we retalliate against if Osama pulled something off. Seriously, not just barking out threats, where would we retalliate???

1 Nuke + 1 Mecca @ peak visitation = Impact statement I think we should definitely, on the quiet, explain to all the governments of the region, and tell them to get the message to the terrorists, that any more strikes on the US, and we will nuke Mecca. Some might say that this will mean war with 900 million Muslims. I think it might be a heavy psychological blow for them. If their moon god was real, would he really let us blow up their meteor? I don't think so.
SO....their choice is, go back to their pathetic existence, and watch modernity bring the stupidity of their raghead culture and religion to light, slowly extinguishing it from the planet, or have it extinguished for them by force if they try to impose it on the civilized world. If they are smart, they will choose the former, where they can continue to enjoy their heritage and hope for better days, rather than the latter, which will ensure a massive loss of life and the death of their culture.

'Al Qaeda vows back-breaking strike The back that is broken, however, may very well be that of al-Qaeda. Young men, with an excess of testosterone, tend to believe in their own invulnerability. Lured into situations beyond their ability to cope, they seem to self-destruct with alarming regularity.
When you fall into a meat grinder, you suddenly realize the wurst is yet to come.

Hey, Sammi:
I've got family that'll be coming down in February.
Can we blow this off til, say, mid-March or maybe April?
We'll let the French know that this schedule will never do...
Thanks,
Baltodog
P.S. There aren't 72 virgins anywhere.

First, there was going to be a death blow against America during the lunar eclipse. Then it was going to be during Ramadan. Then Christmas. Now they're waiting until Valentine's Day? Puh-leeze.
Defecate or get off the pot, Sammie. Your 72 virgins are bored and lonely (they're probably not even virgins at this point). Of course, after all those long, candlelit nights hiding in caves with Mullah Omar, you might not be too interested in females anyway.
