"I asked my son what the IED he found looked like. He said "a dead cat with a wire in its ass".
I'd like to stick wires up their Islamic asses and blow their fricking gray matter out.

My Prayers for the Families of these fallen Heros, especially during such a time as Christmas. That will be very hard to hear.
And prayers also for their Soldier friends in Iraq who lost a part of themselves with the loss of their 3 buddys.
Thank You Lord that it wasnt 30 of our Brave Troops, or 3000 of US.

Here is a serious question.
These bombs are being set off, presumably, by remote. President Mushareff was recently assaulted with a similar device but it detonated AFTER he was out of the area because his envoy was carrying radio signal surpressors to prevent the device from being set off.
Why are our troops not being issued these devices? I don't think they would be that hard to construct.

Its the paper work required to purchase a good quantity of them that slows down getting stuff to the troops.
Got to be a competitive bidding process!

My understanding is the device you speak of is a high power white noise transmitter, that puts out R.F. (Radio Frequency) energy over a wide band - say 500 kHz to 2,500 Mhz or so).
The idea is that if the remote controlled device is waiting for an R.F. signal of a specific frequency to set it of, you'll detonate it ahead of you. If it's waiting for an R.F. signal modulated with a special signal (a tone or data stream) your broadband jamming signal will over-ride what it's listening for - until you're a safe distance away.
Using a pair of wires directly to set off the blasting cap with a battery would seem to get around this, but that would require the person setting the explosive device to run (and conceal) the wire from the bomb to the person who will detonate the bomb, taking far more time than simply dropping or placing the disguised bomb and moving on.
I think that the high power R.F. transmitter might even be able to counter this, as the R.F. would get onto the wires leading to the blasting cap and set it off. (Which is why you have to turn off R.F. transmitting equipment in areas where blasting is going on).

Four civilians were also murdered in the process. The terrorists are getting fewer as the number of people sympathetic or afraid of Saddam become fewer.

Dear Good People,
The problem is simple and simple to fix. Our men are riding around in vehicles that are not built to take a heavy blow, like an explosive device. Indeed, many are riding around in vehciles that have no more protection than your car or SUV. Actually, many are riding around in vehicles that have canvas body parts.
Take a look at the burned out vehciles. Do you see a tank? NO. Do you see a Bradley fighting Vehicle? NO. Our men are riding around in vehicles that were NEVER MEANT FOR THE TASK AT HAND.
WE NEED VEHICLES THAT CAN ABSORB a heavy blow. Without going into the blame game there are only a few solutions.
1. We can armor the humvees. This is being done now. But this is a rather small plant, American General Motors, that as far as I know, produces ALL the armored humvees. They have geared up but this still it is just one plant. I don't care if the vehicles are built in an open field-I want them built now.
2. We can pull the armored humvees from places where they are not needed .e.g. Bosnia, and send every one to Iraq. This is being done IN PART ONLY !
We should pull all of our troops out of places like Bosnia and send every one to Iraq. The Europeans can handle the task. Even if they can't, we need the armored humvees in Iraq.
3. We can buy vehicles made by the Germans that are supposed to take a minfield explosion and keep the occupants alive. We have ordered some.
Think: It is very rare for the Israelis to have this kind of
explosions and take casualties. Why? They believe in armor-heavy armor.
We might be able to play a large role here. Most folks are watching without much knowledge of the situation. We are large enough in number to make a difference.
Our point,I think, is focused enough: Our soldiers in vehicles travel in armored vehicles or not at all. We should ask what we would want if our son was in a vehicle.
I am not so good with the computer so I would appreciate it if someone who knows what they are doing makes sure this is posted. We can make a difference.
Let us help those guard us while we sleep.
