Let's get real. This is a bunch of gossip and speculation from CNN, who would love to get rid of a major competitor.

The prosecutor is a left-wing, opportunistic politician. It's possible that Rush's lawyer wants to settle the matter just to get it over with, since it could continue harrassing Rush for a long time, regardless of the outcome. It's unlikely that the prosecutor could win a conviction.

I hope it's all gossip, but I'm a little concerned that CNN provides direct quotes and a name:

Keevin Bellows, a spokeswoman for Premier Radio Networks, said Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, had been talking with the Palm Beach County state attorney's office about "accepting responsibility for his actions." She also said Black "will be making news today."

The prosecutor got his initial evidence from Rush's housekeeper, but the housekeeper never told the prosecutor that she was blackmailing Rush for $4 million. Prosecutors don't like to employ witnesses who are blackmailing the person on trial. It reeks of collaboration with a blackmailer.

I absolutely agree. In his position, it would be far better to get it behind him. Then he could discuss it openly on the air if he wants to, and I think he does.

BTW, I didn't believe this when it first came out, something I'm not a bit ashamed of. I wasn't nasty about it, but I certainly gave Rush the benefit of the doubt, which I hope people who know and like me would also do if I were ever accused of something.

(I didn't do it)

That's my guess, too. Just deal with it now and get it over with so he can go on with life. The longer this stretches out, the worse it will be for his mental state, which is an important consideration for someone so freshly out of teatment and into recovery.
