Yes, that's the Hayward fault. It actually splits the football stadium.

A 6.5 is pretty good size. Been wondering when this would come; it's been really quiet the past few days, and with the new moon you would expect something.

San Gabriel Valley area here. It felt like a light rolling motion for maybe 30 seconds. Our chandelier was swaying (it's our quake detector).
Usually, if you feel an earthquake as a light motion, it mean the quakes epicenter is far away. The closer you are to the epicenter, the more violent the motion of the quake will feel.
I think they are reporting a 6.5 off the coast , up North. I wonder if there will be a tsunami warning?

I'd think it was the San Andreas, except for the fact that the east bay doesn't report problems.... The geology department at Cal State used to have a big map that showed all the faults in northern CA theres a million of them.
In our area (San Leandro, Hayward) we sit on top of the Hayward fault, but there are many lesser faults in the area along with some big ones too
Anyway, didnt feel a thing here but thats not unusual. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Just talked to my sis in Westwood. Gentle rolling, nothing too terrible Just talked to my own sis in Thousand Oaks, and she didn't feel a thing. It's odd how certain areas closer to the epicenter remain unaffected.

Thank you both for the information.

My Godson from San Luis Obispo is 10. This is the first earthquake he remembers. He said "it was stupid and expected better."

I'm surprised Berkeley doesn't declare Berkeley as a quake-free city. That would show 'em. So let it be written...

KCAL/KCBS: No immediate damage from SLO area thus far - probably good news.
