Albert A. Gore III, the son of former Vice President Al Gore, was arrested last night in Bethesda, Md. for possession of marijuana.
According to Montgomery County police, Gore was driving a dark-colored Cadillac through downtown Bethesda around 11:30 p.m. with the car's headlights off.
Police officers who were conducting a campaign against impaired driving during the holiday season stopped the car and noticed that despite the freezing temperature, all the car's windows were open as well as the sunroof.
When the officer spoke with the driver, Mr. Gore, he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.
When officers searched the car, they found what appeared to be a partial marijuana cigarette near the center console area. They also found a baggie of suspected marijuana inside a cigartette box and a crushed soda can with an odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the can.
Gore and the two passengers in the car were charged with one count of possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. All three were released pending trial.

So why didnt they confiscate the car under assest forfieture like they do every day around the country for us lowly peons? I thought the equal justice under the law thing made us all equal even the son of the vice president. Oh wait my mistake we are living under sandra day oconners america so if a foriegn coutry has a law or treaty giving special priviliges to the elite we have to abide by that here in the usa also.Carry on nothing to see here

Boy, does that photo bring back memories (nightmares?)... I remembered seeing it during the 2000 recount days. Al dragged his family outside the VP residence for the "What? Me worry?" photo op. Here's another photo from that day...

I almost missed it in my local yellow rag. The citation was at the bottom of the "International News Briefs." And boy was it brief!

To give these ratty neo-fascists a taste of their own medicine, Al Gore's house should be vacuumed for additional drug evidence, trace or otherwise. If any is found, he should be imprisoned and his home confiscatedThat would mean the death penalty for Rush.

We should figger out some way to track this story . . . to see how often it's reported versus how often the stories were reported when the Bush twins got into trouble. I suspect we'd see a media bias, huh?

Well, since we are talking about media bias and the burying of this story, the Washington Post has the AP clip in its on-line edition, but nothing -- as in nada, zilch -- that I could find anywhere in the Sunday print edition. This despite the fact that the arrest happened in suburban Washington, so it ought to be news in this area by any test.

This despite the fact that the arrest happened in suburban Washington, so it ought to be news in this area by any test.LOL. I suspect neither of us are surprised. I just posed my theoretical topic because I know there's some FReepers out there who know how to track this stuff. I've seen posts like . . . "Per Lexis/Nexis, blah, blah, blah." Or, "After searching Google News, I found . . ."
Sadly, LOL, I'm not proficient at researching stuff or I'd do it myself. I think the results would be interesting. I'd blindly bet anything that Gore's son gets a "relative" pass from the national press, as any youngster of a politician should in my opinion, where GW's daughters were unnecessarily embarrassed.
When I go back in ancient time and remember what I was doing at these kids' ages, they're saints in comparison. LOL. And I wish the press would remember that . . . these are kids for God's sake. They'll make the same mistakes we made and we shouldn't trash them to black the eye of their politician-parent.

So if Jeb Bush's daughter has a relapse of with prescription medications again, it was the lack of punishment? I don't recall her being arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of those drugs. Furthermore when Gore's son was just 17 and still a minor for which Al Gore was still responsible, his son was arrested for going 97 miles per hour through a small town. It doesn't look like Al Gore III has learned his lesson. I doubt he would learn it even if he got in an accident and killed someone.

Gore was driving a dark-colored Cadillac Why not a DUI this time too? He was driving and he HAD to be under the influence. Sounds like a cover-up to me.

It's no joke, Hildy, though I hoped you'd try to make one out of it. It's a matter of your attitude of, "Can't we all just be friends?" NO, Hildy. We can't just all be friends. That was Clinton's thing, appeasement. It got us 9/11 and the deaths of three thousand innocent men, women and children, among other attacks.
We've been attacked! We WILL defend, even if it's only to call attention to the media's unfair reporting.
