In Muslim countries I mean countries where they go by the the clerics rule you can get away with murder. Literally. You can kill your daughter if you think it will improve your standing in the community.
But England is not a Muslim country and its not easy to get away with murder there.
Consider the case of Heshu Yones, a 16-year-old girl who was stabbed to death by her father, Abdallah. (The Yones emigrated to England from Iraq. Kurds, they fled Saddam Husseins reign of terror).
Why did her father kill his daughter? Because he believed she was having sex with her boyfriend. Someone sent Abdallah a letter accusing Heshu of acting like a whore. So, he decided to kill her for the sake of his honor.
A spokesman for the police cautioned Muslims about religiously-inspired murder: Violence in the name of culture will not be tolerated. Murder in the name of honor will be punished by the severest penalties available in law.
Abdallah was sentenced to life in prison.

As I wrote
elsewhere ...
"The beauty of a truth based in reality is that it is not a matter of belief -- you know it is true."

Non mystics can be monsters also...i.e. the communist regimes all over the world. There are bad apples in every group, but speaking as a Christian, I don't know anyone who eats garbage, who hates enough to execute,or who has driven their family away. I do know people who are loving and charitable and who care about each other.I think you paint with a pretty broad brush.

Ah, yes -- Ayn Rand. Her
"rational" premises are mutually contradictory, and her "highest moral good" is utterly subjective (fatal for a supposedly objective philosophy). As such, she's a moral looter and a philosophical fraud.
Now, let's consider your statement:
"The beauty of a truth based in reality is that it is not a matter of belief -- you know it is true."
I know that God exists. What are you going to say about that?

Has it ever occurred to you that your tagline is a bizarre contradiction of your stated beliefs?
America is truly blessed ... with George W. Bush as President.
The state of being "blessed" presupposes someone doing the blessing. Who do you suppose blessed America by putting George Bush in the White House?
(Hint: if you say, "the electorate," I'm going to insist that you go into business selling bumperstickers that read, "Voters Bless America" ... in Florida.)

Non mystics can be monsters also I agree; but my point is that one does not need religion to know right from wrong.
Ask any child that's just reached "the age of reason" (somewhere between six and nine) if he/she knows right from wrong.
They do, in a far better way than most of their elders.

what a bizarre person you know.
of course your definition of religion is "From hunger."
for Christian biblicalists (Fundamentalists if you will), religion means "visiting the sick, and the widows, and avoiding the stains of sin." nothing more. nothing less.

religion has nothing to do with reality or reason?
screed-wise, your dialectic is admirably lean on justification or substantiation.
of course, that may be because you have an unformed or uninformed understanding of the role, value and meaning of religion.

"The beauty of a truth based in reality is that it is not a matter of belief -- you know it is true."Thanks for that big ol' load of meaninglessness. The truth (based in reality) is this: Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of the Lord God Almighty, died on the cross to save the sinner from his sin. That includes you. If you repent from your sin, that is.

So, he decided to kill her for the sake of his honor. This more closely resembles something a Klingon would do than a human. No wonder they live in caves and shacks built of trash.

Oh really ? Guy in Montgomery screaming "Get your hands off our God you God haters"-alluding to a rock. I am satisfied that none of you know the ultimate truth and neither do I. I, shall continue to revel in the same wonderment I was born with. Thank you.
