The McCain-Feingold assault on our First Amendment rights was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress, signed into law by a Republican President, and affirmed by a Republican-controlled Supreme Court. The Senate was not controlled by the Republicans and what difference would it have made given the final vote was 60-40. Here are the Republican Senators who voted yea: Chafee, Cochran, Collins, Domenici, Fitzgerald, Lugar, McCain, Snowe, Specter, Thompson and Warner. And even that DINO, Miller voted yea.
Thanks for pointing out the facts about Republicans not controlling the Senate which was missed by the poster. It was veto proof so there was absolutely no reason for Bush to veto and have his veto overturned. That seems to be missing on here!
Political risk was not worth it IMO!
