Republicans should be moving to repeal socialism aggressively. Instead, it's a matter of alot or all.

I expected a real fight after the 2002 mandate, which was quickly thrown away.

Yeah, that old right-wing radical Supreme Court that RATS like to complain about! The President would have been crucified if he had vetoed, I think. The media would have gone insane and McCain probably would have switched parties along with Chaffee. Who knows? Maybe Snowe and Collins and Spector, too. We don't know all the inside details of what went on. I am not leaving the side of this President. If a few here think it would be better to vote for Dean or to sit home, so be it. I don't think that is the majority opinion here. In fact, I know it isn't.

The 5 USSC judges who made this ruling should be bashed MORE than President Bush.

At least the current president has said that parts of CFR were unconstitutional. That's more than O'Connor has opined.

IMV, the problem is SCJ O'Connor and the solution is to have the current president pick the replacement for O'Connor and Ginsburg over the next five years, when those two retire.

As a unified force we can achieve the electoral extinction of the democrat party as a political force

Dream on. The same thing was said when Reagan utterly annihilated Mondale in '84 and Bush took care of Dukakis with ease in the following election, but looked what happened in '92. And the 2000 election was a 50-50 split. The Rats aren't going the way of the Dodo anytime soon.

anyone who comes out and says.. I would listen to Dean and he seems moderate and blah blah blah.. you really have to wonder. This is the guy that has spent the year whipping up levels of hatred against a president as never seen before... I dont recall Bush ever doing this to Clinton or Gore when he was running...
Dean has a lot of internet junkies going on conservative boards and putting up opinions about him pretending to be conservative.. I would warn everyone to watch out for this guy.. he is already trying to move to the middle now that he thinks he has the nomination locked up.. Just watch one of his "hate bush" rallies and you will never want to see this guy's face again...

Someone linked me to the DU and lo and behold, some of the same comments are being written over there, and almost word for word. Shocking, ain't it?

Largest increase in non-defense government spending in a generation.

$15 billion to Africa (ostensibly to fight AIDS), anyone? Small-gov't Republicans are a dying breed, unfortunately. It's now all about "compassion."

I understand what you're saying. Nobody is perfect, but the president has power that comes with the responsibility of keeping the people in power - does that make sense? By the people, for the people....

When I see these massive education, medicare, CFR bills, and Patriot Acts; I'm seeing power taken away from the people on a state, local, and grassroots level and that bothers me.

Bogging down educaters with so much paperwork they hardly have time to teach; making a law which prohibits prescription prices from going down; making it so local groups can't collect money to air a commercial to expouse their grievances against the government or it's representatives; having millions of ordinary peoples one-hundred dollar checks being tracked and 'certain' information looked over by peeping government workers....there is something wrong with this picture.

It's just not right.

As this guy working at a 7-11 said to me one day, sadly shaking his head, "This whole damn country is just going to s***."

Not threatening to leave or sit out the election, but expressing displeasure. Money talks too. I already emailed President Bush since this thread began. I told him I would vote for him in '04 but that I don't like this CF bill. Or the excessive gov't spending.

Glad you posted that -- seems some of that is going on here on FR! Dean scares me almost as much as Hillary and that is saying something!

Honestly, what has that man done for the Republican Party? I know he keeps hosing conservatives, but he can't even stop from screwing over the party.

My point exactly. My question was rhetorical. Now lets get back to the political climate at the time, which by the way for our side was as ugly as it gets. Now the other morn I saw a picture of President Bush in the O.C. Register, I believe it was taken when he was in Ohio. In the background, in the picture was Sen. Nelson of Nebraska. What do you suppose a dem. Sen was doing in Ohio when a Republican President was making a speech in the rust belt?

He was explaining who could and couldn't do these ads and if they did ads how it could be used

Corporations, like Sierra Club cannot run attack ads. and if ads where run they could not mention the candidate's name.

I think he also made a comment that George Soros himself could run ads as an individual .. but Moveon.org couldn't because they were a corp.

It's about to come on the TV again .. I want to take notes this time to make sure I am right about what he said

O'Connor hinted once that she was thinking of retiring...after this last hurrah, I think she'd better be thinking about it soon.

I've read that Ginsburg has cancer. Any news about her condition?

It started with Reagan where the republicans started to think that they could not be identified as the "Rich" and party of the rich, even though the media still trumpets that charge through their dim talking points. When Clinton took office, the dims controlled over 30+ governships, most state houses, a super majority in congress and a bare minority in the senate. Here we are in 2003 where the Repbs control 28 governerships, most state houses, the party level identification is almost if not even with Dims, we have steadily our ranks especially since 9/11 and looking at contributions to Bush 2004, more regular people are contributing to the republicans than the democrats who are depending on the soroses of the world and hollywood to come to their aid.
