RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - Sen. Dianne Feinstein urged Southern California county and city officials to unite to ensure the federal government continues providing funds for forest-thinning to reduce risk of wildfires like the ones that recently ravaged the region.
"I'll do everything I can, but the squeaky wheel continues to get the grease," Feinstein, D-Calif., told over 500 people at a luncheon sponsored by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce. "So squeak loudly."

I can think of a couple of places I'd like to put that grease, Senator Frightkenstein. But being as this is a family oriented forum. ;-)
I will settle for placing it under the skids of the Defeat the CA Senators in 2004 and 2006 Campaign Funds and those who run as yours and Boxer's opponents.

"I'll do everything I can . . ."So where was Feinstein on forest thinning from about 1992 on until this recent fire problem? What a worthless "leader."

Oddly enough, I found that while lobbying, we had better access to Boxer's staff than Feinstein's. Go figure.

Where was Feinstein before the fires ? She is as much of an opportunist as Hillary. As much as I despise ChiFi on numerous other grounds, your post is both unwarranted and false. Feinstein has long been an advocate of forest thinning. Witness her co-authoring of the Herger-Feinstein Quincy Library Group legislation.

What a picture as a metaphor for all the politicians neglect - there she stands in the midst of the burned out forest in Riverside created by her very neglect for years. D@#n her.
And what is left? A visit by Mental Health. Pathetic. Feinstein should be the first patient.

Couldn't she be considered part of the problem?

My observation was based on limited information, I admit.
If what you say is true, then Feinstein (at least in this case) is not an opportunist, and I apologize for the misaccusation (and Thank You for educating me.)

You are quite welcome. She really has been on the right side on this issue and has been seen dressing down representatives of the Sierra Club over it.
Here is the text of the Act, passed in 1990. She's no "Joanie come lately" on this this issue.
