Get real. The fair market value was destroyed by the imminence of the highway. State offers under such circumstances are tantamount to robbery.

I'm sure he felt his property was worth much more. Maybe 10,000 times more. If the state wanted it that bad, they should have paid the price. After all, was it not his property?
