"Oh, sweet mother of Gaia!" former Vice President Al Gore exclaimed, upon discovering he had endorsed "maverick" candidate Howard Dean for president.
"That wasn't what I meant to do at all," Gore, flanked by his wife, Tipper, told a hastily-called news conference.
"I guess I was confused by the ballot," Gore contended. "I had a list of the nine dwar -- er, candidates running and I guess I just slipped up and marked the wrong one, darn it!
"This is the kind of thing that could happen to anyone," Gore continued. "Particularly our seniors, now so hard-hit by President Bush's shameless and draconian Medicare bill."
Gore said he had meant instead to endorse his former vice presidential running mate, Joe Lieberman.
"I hope Joe will forgive me this egregious error," Gore said. "I've always said the little shrim -- er, senator -- had my endorsement, unless and until Hillary announces, and then I would reserve the right to endorse her, if I know what's good for me. Isn't that right, Tipper?"
"What?" Mrs. Gore replied.
The former vice president added he would seek immediately to have his endorsement invalidated by the Florida Supreme Court.

Thanks! Your handle reminds me this could well have been a conspiracy, not just a simple mistake!

He appears a little snippy to me

You're right. Perhaps the Bush team thought they could most benefit from a Howard Dean nomination so they deliberately confused algore with the misleading endorsement ballot. (Furthermore, they tricked the democrats into designing the ballot that way MONTHS ago.)

What was the reason for Gore not running? I missed that one. Did his boss Hitlery tell him not to? After all, she had him make Lieberman his running mate to take the heat off her Paul Fray remark. They always scream about Florida, but they never talk about her Hellness getting more attention to her Senate campaign than Gores Prez one, do they?

One loser endorsing another. Makes sense though - Dean uses the internet to raise money, and Gore invented the internet.

That was awesome. Thank you for allowing me to see the error of my ways and correct my vote for me automatically. I meant to vote for algore anyways, my finger slipped and I half-clicked on Sharpton. I was confused. But what do you expect? I'm 24 years old, my eyes are going bad, there are 9 idiots to choose from, and two are named Al. That ballot was so much easier. On behalf of all Liberals, thank you.
Hopefully now that it is so easy to vote for algore he'll concede to Her Highness.
