This is the real powder keg and when it blows, it will have World Wide effect. What choice do we have, the Chinese side with anyone who hates us. They're definately on George Bush's $hit list.

Quick!
Let's all run out and load up our houses with Chinese manufactured goods for Christmas.
Just before last Christmas in Merry Old China the commie government executed by firing squad over 50 Christians. That was sort of an additional present to the Christian world to go along with all the ornaments they thoughtfully manufacture for us.

An article posted here yesterday said that some of Bush's advisers were telling him to give in on this. I trust he knows better.
It would be a HUGE mistake to show weakness in the face of Chinese blackmail. Over the past 50 years they have shown themselves to be very good at demanding things, and very bad at keeping their side of the bargain.
This would only confirm the view of Chinese leaders who argue that we are a Paper Dragon ripe for a pushover.

China is threatening to impose stiff tariffs on U.S.-made goods .... The Chinese are too smart to bite the hand that feeds them .... China has MUCH MORE to lose in a trade war with the U.S. than we do .... although frankly, I'd love to see it! The Chinese are our real, natural enemy .... we will have a great war with them one day .... better sooner than later while they are militarily inferior.
To: Rams82
If no such U.S. cooperation is forthcoming, then China is threatening to impose stiff tariffs on U.S.-made goods and to cancel the five-way peace talks with North Korea. Don't believe it. The Chinese have a huge trade surplus with the US. If they ever engaged in a trade war with the US, they would be committing economic suicide. In fact, trade is a huge lever for the US. To paraphrase an old Chinese saying, "Be careful what you threaten, you may get it."

I'm hope this attitude from the Chinese just causes all these free trade morons in the fedgov and corporations with operations there to just starting $hitting their pants over these new revelations. For years, many clearer thinking analysts have warned about an over-reliance on trading with Communist butchers and murderers yet these warnings were dismissed by "wisemen" in Congress, fedgov and private industry. You can paint a pretty face on evil all you want, but in the end evil is still evil.

China, like Hitler, is using bluff and bluster to get what it wants without firing a shot. At the present time, war is out of the question because they are not ready. Wait a few years.

They will strike us very hard on our own soil, perhaps in 2005 when we invade Iran and Syria. Anybody who doesn't think this is possible is living in a fool's paradise.

Seems like China is trying to help the Clinton election efforts.

Tell the Communist butchers to bring it on. We'll see what a 20-megaton airburst over Beijing will do for an attitude adjustment.

"Second, there are forces in the Bush White House who believe that use of force against Taiwan, or indeed a war, can be avoided by giving Beijing a concession, lets say publicly disavowing U.S. protection for Taiwan if it pursues independence," stated Fisher
Powell and Rove, is my guess. The chump and the panderer, respectively.
