"They now find themselves looking for something -- anything! -- with which to rationalize their past behavior, and the fact that it isn't forthcoming is driving them deeper and deeper into madness and irrelevancy."
Perhaps you're not old enough to remember the years of President Reagan, who earned the nickname from the press of "The Teflon President" because as they threw crap at him non-stop, nothing stuck. He's a great man and was a great President.

Yeah, he's hanging out with people who want to help the Democrats defeat President Bush.

They say hatred is like an acid, eating away at its container. If that's true, we're going to see a whole bunch of media types coming apart at the seams.

"...Then came the news that Dubya upstaged her fat A$$ by doing something honorable and brave and I could not wipe the smile off my face all day."
Haa, haa!! Yeah. Funny thing, we were watching a parade or something when the news cut in after they found out what he pulled off. The wife and I started laughing when we finally grasped exactly what they had done. My wife said, "What? What, this is like something you would see in a Harrison Ford movie! But he's really doing it in real life!"
Yeah, it makes you smile and laugh just thinking about it and looking at it from all the different angles; especially how it's really annoying his political enemies. Bush is great!

Oh, geeeeeeez, now there's a cynical, bitter rant. You know, I wonder how many of these people (who aren't identifiable leftists) are just envious and jealous of Bush and the way he's, well, quite effectively undoing the mediocrity and embarrassment of the previous Administration in the American experience.
Just amazing....

"Kathryn Ross, CNN's Washington bureau chief was upset that CNN was excluded. "We're all for the President boosting the troops however the White House feels is appropriate. But apparently the White House put together its own group of people to accompany the president on this trip, and we're real interested to learn their reason for doing that."" These leftists are starting to remind me of Screwtape in C.S.Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters". Mistrusting everyone, because they are untrustworthy, filled with vain self-importance and assuming everyone else is too; no sense of humor because they take themselves too seriously; assuming everyone else has ulterior motives because all their own motives are suspect.

PS haven't you been around here long enough to know that JR detests reposts, from other forums, made simply to continue personal feuds?
I think ,though some personal vindication is involved here,I think CJ's point was actually to turn a million candle power light on certain of those who wrap themselves in their own rightness. His pulling quotes seemed to illustrate this rather well.

Yep. Projection, then rage when there's no justification for their suspicion. Shaking their self-importance seems to be the worst sin, though.

More proof that liberalism (or to be more accurate, leftism) is indeed a mental illness. But I'm rather inclined toward Scott Peck's conclusion - in People of the Lie - that some people have just chosen evil. And that goes along with every religion in the world as well.
Evil has no genuine sense of fun.

His only role in a future Clinton Administration will be that of a paid talk show guest spinmeister. Future Clinton Administration? In which alternative universe?

Bush Criticized By Liberals Excerpt:The cruelest remark made by the left came from the lips of former White House Press Secretary who is now a Democratic consultant with very close ties to Hillary (since Joe expects to be her Press Secretary when she takes the White House next year). But, I think Joe just fell on his sword. His only role in a future Clinton Administration will be that of a paid talk show guest spinmeister. When Lockhart heard about the Bush visit to Baghdad, he said: "My problem with this is not that he misled the press. This is a president who has been unwilling to provide his presence to the families who have suffered but thinks nothing of flying to Baghdad to use the troops there as a prop."
Excuse me?
First, isn't that exactly what Bill Clinton did countless times during his presidency? Except that Bill would never go into harms way. And, when Clinton went anywhere where "armed" troops were billeted, all weapons were emptied before Clinton showed up. Say what you will about our 42nd President, he wasn't a stupid man.
Second, what does Lockhart think Hillary's trip to Afghanistan was all about? Was Joe mad because the speech he had prepared to talk about Hillary's heroic, morale building trip to Afghanistan was suddenly just so much scrap paper?
Third, Bush has met with the families of many of those who lost their lives in Iraq, and he will continue to do so. Of course, to Lockhart and the Clinton's, you always knew when those photo ops happened because they met with the bereaved before the media so they always got the full voter impact. The fact that Bush chooses to meet with the families privately and without the press corp does not mean those visits didn't happen. What it means is that Bush is caring enough that these visits are sincere expressions of his condolences to those whose loved ones made the supreme sacrifice for their country.
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.

Third, Bush has met with the families of many of those who lost their lives in Iraq, and he will continue to do so. I hope you can send me a link to an article somewhere that our president attended a funeral or met with a family or member of a family somewhere in the US who's son was killed in Iraq because on turkey day, you know what the topic was with rat family members. I am aware that he met with a few families when he was in London and also that another family refused to meet with the president. As was said on turkey day by a family member, if Bush met with ANY family here in the US, it would definitely be in the news whether the president wanted press or not because that would definitely come out somewhere. THANKS!
