The Assassinations Committee was expected to corroborate the Warren Report, but in its final days of hearings, the panel heard surprising testimony from three acoustics experts that pushed the investigators in the conspiracy direction. This was in the closing days of the hearings, they were pressed for time and running out of money ... SINCE THEN we have lerned this:
2.1.3 The House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA)TRUE to form, the conspiratorial material only tells half the truth - or a half-truth if you will - rather than the complete truth ...The JFK and Martin Luther King assassinations were formally investigated by the HSCA in the late seventies.
They essentially confirmed the WC findings that Oswald fired three shots, two of which struck and killed JFK.
Based solely on a police radio recording, they detected a fourth gunshot in Dealey Plaza and concluded there was another shoot- er on the GK who fired and missed.
The recording, and thus the conspiracy thesis, was later discredited by a National Academy of Science study. The tape had cross-talk from two channels and the sounds initially identified as shots were recorded a minute after the assassination.
Or, maybe that was the shot that made the entry wound in Kennedy's throat.
They'll quiet down soon and sleep until the Fiftieth Anniversary.
