So it is acceptable to make light of death unless the death
is someone close to your home or your mindset.

So it is acceptable to make light of death unless the death is someone close to your home or your mindset.I never said that. All I did was to ask how the other gentleman's reply was mindless.
To follow in your "when did you stop beating your wife" vein, am I personally guilty of making light of others' misfortune? Yes. In that light, am I a hypocrite? Happily so.
Now, can you answer my original question for me? How is the other gentleman's reply mindless?

I remember several years ago when Rush defined someone dying
as "assuming room temperature". I remember specifically him using that term at the time of Curt Kobains(sp?) and the
homeless advocate Mitch Williams death.
When Rush's Grandfather died, a sneak caller asked him if his Grandfather "assumed room temperature" and Rush came unglued on the air. He never used the expression again to my knowlege.
Might that be a tad hypocritical?
-----
Rush's percentages for being right must have certainly gone up since this whole "hypocrisy" issue has arisen, because he nailed the motivation and intent behind the biggest majority of it regarding him. It is becoming amusing to see what the latest "example" of his so-called hypocrisy will be.
I've never seen or heard Rush become "unglued on the air"(as in didn't know how to respond) because of anything said by a caller, in all of the years I've listened to him (since 1988), although his hearing loss has slightly affected his reactions and responses at times. And, his most recent use of similar terminology about body temps, that I recall, was with regard to bin Laden and "cave temperature", and it was said since he returned to the air.
Someone on this board recently mentioned not having heard Rush use the phrase "nicotine stained fingers" after some other apparent confrontation with so-called reality in his life.
Seems to me it would be helpful if some critics took refresher courses in reading AND listening comprehension before analyzing and analogizing about Rush, but in the meantime it does provide for amusing entertainment.
