The Turks have been staunch allies of the US for years. Their warriors have stood beside ours in many fights.

I think it's less a Muslim thing than a Turk/Arab/Mideast culture thing.

Any bets that the Turks will want to send troops to Iraq or possibly send there version of Special Forces/Commandos to "train" with some of our folks to go hunting humans?

The Turks have a long, long history of destroying, not fearing, those who attack them.

'Turks killing fellow Muslims. What could be worse?'

How about radical Wahabbist a-holes killing fellow muslims because they aren't radical enough? That's how it's been for hundreds of years, but now that things change, see how they cry.

The best thing that any headstrong people under psychological assault can do is to act as if nothing of significance is happening. As Turks go about their jobs and continue to party after work, perhaps with too much levity, the terror attacks will be shown to have no more effect than an earthquake.

My advice to people in istanbul is:

1) Get back to work.
2) Carry enough emergency rations on you and at home so as to make terror attacks against infrastructure such as transportation and power supply irrelevant.
3) Party. Continue to go to your favorite watering holes and nightclubs.
4) Have faith in the security services to hunt down these animals.
5)Treat this whole thing like it was just another earthquake and carry on. If you're a male register with the local draft board or whatever military conscription bureaucracy you have.
6)Don't blow up any mosques. These murdering bastards are not our teachers.

It would be much better if Turks could carry firearms as Americans do, but that's another argument.

"'Turks killing fellow Muslims. What could be worse?'

Nonsense: what could be better...enough said. "

Read the article. Then read something besides weird comic books. Look up articles and posts about Turkey at this forum.

You are so out of line here that further comments would get me banned. You owe an apology to the Turks on this forum.

Pus-for-brains. Ignoramus.

First let me express my disdain for Peter Popham, who titled his article with the quote of a distressed and obviously ignorant member of my nation. Peter you suck. But let me also address some of your responses to this terrible tragedy. You remind me of that disgusting bitch who we saw in pictures of Palestinian streets rejoicing in the events of 9/11:

Nonsense: what could be better...enough said. - Nick Thimmesch
Uh . . . Muslims killing Americans? - Maceman
It could be raining. - rabidralph

Since you people have no concept of who your enemy really is, a defence against terror designed by the likes of you is bound to fail.

It would seem, however, that your leaders have a better understanding of where the line between good and evil is drawn. And from where I stand, the three of you are on the wrong side of that line.

I understand your point about the Turks not being our enemy, and I can accept that. But I was responding to the headline question, and I stand by my assertion that Muslims killing Americans is worse than Turks killing fellow Muslims. A lot worse.

And if your point is that Muslims are not the enemy of America, I have to tell you that I have heard an awful lot of Muslims who apparently disagree with you. And they seem to be have the loudsst voice, based on what I have seen and heard since 9/11.

Big-time negotiators, false healers and Armenian haters,
Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition
But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency,
All non-believers and men stealers talkin' in the name of religion
And there's a slow, slow train comin' up around the bend
