If one doesn't accept the Warren Report, that would mean that you believe that there was a government cover-up, and after all, as Chief Justice, Earl Warren would certainly qualify as part of the government. So if there was a cover-up by the US government, then you would have to ask who would they cover-up for? The Mafia? The Soviets? The Cubans? None of these seem likely. For example, if the Mafia, then the government would pursue them even more vigorously. That leaves us with an agency of the government: the CIA, the FBI, or the executive branch itself. Now add to the possible culpability of the executive branch that the CIA and the FBI are part of the executive branch. Scary thought that we may have had a coup d'etat.
