This is the text of a letter from Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela, to Carlos the Jackal, presently being held in a French jail. In about the same time frame, he had ordered his Embassy officials in Paris to try and arrange Carlos' release, although to no avail.

"I feel that the energy in my soul rises, broadens, and becomes equal to the size of the dangers. My doctor has told me that my soul needs to feed on danger in order to preserve my sanity, in that when God made me he allowed this stormy revolution, so that I could live engaged in my own special destiny. "
Could have been written by Hitler!

For what its worth, these lines are by Simon Bolivar. Some of the formatting was lost when I posted it, and its not obvious that Chavez is quoting Bolivar here.

A Venezuelan woman hits pot as she shouts anti-President Hugo Chavez slogans in front of a line of National Guard members while security police raid a photocopying center searching for 'subversive printed matter' in Caracas, November 19, 2003. The officers were trying to establish the origin of pamphlets found at the scene of the February 25, 2003 bomb attacks against Spanish and Colombian diplomatic offices in Caracas. The pamphlets bore the name of the 'Bolivian Liberation Force,' an alleged pro-Chavez group, but the government has blamed hard-line opponents and ordered the arrest of three anti-Chavez military officers who are in hiding. Bump! I wish more people would read this.
Most people also do not realize that Carlos the Jackal converted to Islam a few years ago and now regards himself as part of the Islamic-leftist militancy.
In addition, Carlos' brother is a high official in the Chavez government.

...to advance dialectically uniting what must be united among the classes in the struggle or promoting confrontation among them, according to the thesis of Iván Ilich Ulianov.Ivan? Sounds more like Vladimir. Who is Ivan?
Carlos personifies the marriage of Marxism-Leninism and Islamism.
