Gov. Jeb Bush fired a volley of legal shots Wednesday at the husband of a brain damaged woman who is at the center of a right to die case, saying there needs to be a jury trial on whether Terri Schiavo wanted to be kept alive artificially. The governor also sought to remove Pinellas Circuit Court Judge W. Douglas Baird from hearing the constitutionality of the new law enacted to keep Terri Schiavo alive after her feeding tube was removed last month. In yet a third legal filing, the governor argues that Terri Schiavo's rights under the Florida Constitution are being protected, not violated.
Terri Schiavo went for six days without food and water after her husband Michael Schiavo removed her feeding tube. Florida lawmakers and Bush intervened, enacting a hastily drawn law that allowed the governor to order the feeding tube be reinserted.
Michael Schiavo has challenging the constitutionality of the governor's action. He contends his wife had said she did not want to be kept alive artificially before she suffered severe brain damage in 1990. Doctors have ruled she has been in a persistent vegetative state since, but her parents believe she is aware of her surroundings and could be rehabilitated.
Bush's attorney Ken Connor said a jury has to establish what Terri Schiavo's wishes were before a court can decide whether her private health care wishes were violated.
George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney, could not immediately be reached for comment.
Hi, tutstar! See, you're asking questions about Judge Greer that I was just asking about Felos. The answer goes something like "In the just, perfect world. . ." I know Floriduh voter is one of several who has been looking at info & recourse on Judge Greer.
I'm falling asleep -- it's been a busy day that included hard physical labor with one of those behemoth rental carpet cleaners...(shuddering at the recollection). It's good to see you here!
What connection with hospice? Having a coworker who managed a hospice isn't enough of a connection to be legally meaningful, nor is any other connection I know of between Greer and Suncoast. To be sure, I have some pretty strong suspicions, but if ties to hospice as loose as those formally existing for Judge Greer were enough to disqualify someone as a judge, there probably wouldn't be any judges to hear the case. Not because there's some nest of corruption, but rather because if one judge is or was a coworker of someone who managed a hospice other judges probably are as well.
Yes.

Michael Schiavo Deposition, Guardianship Hearing
Q. What did you do with your wife's jewelry?
A. My wife's jewelry?
Q. Yeah.
A. Um, I think I took her engagement ring and her...what do they call it...diamond wedding band and made a ring for myself.
Q. What did you do with her cats?
A. Her cats were put to sleep n the advice of my mother-in-law.
Yes. He admitted it under oath. I believe he was testifying in court (i.e., in front of a judge, not just giving a deposition). The judge must have been boneheaded to miss it.
It's not clear when he took her rings but it was VERY early, that is, not long after Terri was "stricken."
That action revealed his true frame of mind, and long before he went before the malpractice jury to pretend that he would be a model husband and take care of her. No woman will miss the symbolism of his taking her wedding rings and making a ring for himself -- Terri was cast away, "divorced," so much dead meat in MS's eyes. And that is just how he treated her over all the years.
>> Well, with the corruption underway in Pinellas Co., it could be that one George J. Felos is the man who RUNS the asylum.
Felo de se. With his obsession, he's a perfect candidate for suicide. And who's going to argue with him?
Not to defend Felos here, as there's no defending scum like him, but it's not unethical or unusual for an atty to accept cases in his area of expertise. In this case, Felos' area of expertise is in advocating for killing people under the guise of 'right-to-die' and MS is trying to kill Terri. A perfect match.
Came from his own mouth. Of course, he is less than credible, but if he were gonna lie about the rings, I wouldn't think it would be to say something deliberately to show himself for the *ssh*le that he is. I realize he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I don't think he's that stupid.
