America's number one talk radio host Rush Limbaugh catagorially denied on Wednesday an ABC News report that accused him of "laundering money" to bankroll his addiction to painkillers. "I am no money launderer," Limbaugh said at the top of his broadcast.
"I know what this is? I know where this comes from," the top talker told his audience. "This is not a leak. This is the purposeful release of false information."

the law was immediately amended (thank you, President Bush) to make it illegal to "structure" even if you didn't know it was illegal to do so. Don't you mean, thank you republican "revolution" congressmen?

Steve 0013 previously pointed out to me that I was wrong as to who was President in 1994. The currency-reporting laws have always been a bipartisan disaster.
To: Lurking Libertarian
I saw that, and was pointing out that you were actually still correct in that its not the liberals who gave us this kind of inquisitorial government, it was the "conservatives."

Due to money contstraints the G men can't afford to come get you at this time.
Please turn yourself in.

You're just grasping a straws for some kind of accusation.
I am not accusing him of anything other than being a drug abusing, hypocrite.
Care to defend that?

My little sister worked for a bank when she first married. Many years later, she was a stay at home mom with 2 kids . When her husband seperated from his job. He had a large severance package. Wanted to deposit in his daughters name as a college fund started. Bank refused to open an account on a company check from a well known company because he was unemployed...

For my company, I had to get $14,000 dollars in cash to buy gift certificates from Best Buy. (Who wouldn't take my company's check... don't even get me started on that) To get the money, I had to fill out an affidavit, give a thumbprint and explain what I was going to do with the money. I resented it.
Next, because I was spending more than $10,000 at Best Buy, I had to fill out an affidavit, give a thumbprint, and explain what I did with the money. I resented that.
If I had $10,000 to take out of my accounts... I would make sure that I stayed under the magic number.

Rush--you could move to Oklahoma, and we'd love and support you....but you'd be taxed to the point of poverty. Just a warning. Oklahoma SUCKS YOU DRY.
To: whattajoke
you Rush-bots are too much...Now, it's "he was remodeling his house," and needed $9900 in 30 increments to fund it.
Why would you trust ABC's version over Rush's statement? According to Rush, it was more like 3 or 4 withdrawals. US Trust recommended the practice to many people, not just him, and admitted so and was fined 10 million.
Where is the loyalty to ABC's reporting coming from? The same ABC that has yet to report on the Intelligence Memo. The same ABC that has failed to report on Kennedy's Neanderthal comment. The same ABC that last week reported their 'scoop" that a Lebonese business man tried to barter a deal to stop the Iraq war. Yea right. Even Newsweek's Howard Fineman had a laugh over that story. ABC failed to mention the Lebonese businessman had been arrested at a DC airport with a bunch of different passports. Don't forget the "Arnold Loves Nazi" scoop ABC reported. They forgot to print Arnold's quote in it's entirety. ABC has an agenda. Period.

A couple of times when spouse and I sold a house we purposely withdrew just under 10K from the bank several times precisely to avoid the damn questions and weirdness, as though it wasn't OUR money and we weren't entitled to take it from the bank without a detailed cross examination! I bet lots of people have done the same thing.
What are they going to accuse Limbaugh of next??
To: Pkeel
Open a business and deposit your illegal money into it. Pay some taxes and it is now free and clear. Interesting, isn't it, how the income tax seems to be at the root of all this invasion of privacy. A consumption tax might be the answer but I think there are many who don't want to change things as they are for their own reasons.

Good job. It amazes me how the Democrats support each other, circle the wagons and never admit to anything wrong. But on the same hand the Republicans will throw one of theirs to the dogs in a heartbeat and they refuse to even fight when they are in the right.
I dont ever intend to vote for another Democrat and I have a lot of friends who are elected Democrats. In my area Democrats outnumber Republicans 4 to 1 and Republicans just wont step forward and now I know why.
The legislature in my state is Republican controlled and appoint Democrats to positions when you have Republicans that could fill them. I dont understand this and it is one of the reasons I cant join the Republican Party. It is amazing at the people who spend money to beat a Republican and when the Republicans are in charge they reappoint them.It never ceases to amaze me.

That puts it in perspective!!!

All they are doing is teaching people hatred fear and contempt for the government. One more great evil atributable to the War On Drugs. As they would say on Seinfeld: "Not that there's anyting wrong with that"... Making people suspicious of Government is bad? :-)

Maybe we're looking at the wrong info. Maybe he NEVER withdrew that type of cash, or it was always recorded with the Feds & the whole story is fabricated.
The whole story could be a full-blown LIE.

Making people suspicious of Government is bad? :-) Being suspicious of Govt and the law is good. Having contempt for the law is not.

Forget that it's Rush. This whole thing is just stupid. Sure.........let's go waste time and public resources looking for a crime that wasn't really there. Yep. Sure as hell aren't enough real bad guys around. Nosirree..........let's harrass a guy that was hooked on LEGAL pain killers. His real problem.........he's a rich Conservative who has pissed off too many liberals. If he wasn't, none of this would be happening. It's that simple, and any here who deny it are liars. You know a good test for whether this is really news worthy or just a political put-up job is to pretend some non-political celebrity was caught doing this - Is it news?
If Tiger Woods was doing what Rush was doing wrt money withdrawals, would it be an issue?
You can also check your own biases that way. (eg. next time a Democrat is accused of something, consider if was a Republican. would think it a big deal? When I realized that any CEO or Republican officeholder would be fired for what Clinton did in 1998, it convinced me impeachment and removal was *not* extreme for that particular case.)

I don't CARE what drugs he used or why he used them - and since he wasn't hurting anyone else, no one else outside his familiy should care either.
Weren't you watching the Super Bowl last year? According to the TV commercials the Bush adminstration spent millions of dollars to air, Rush Limbaugh is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, because Osama bin Laden is funded by drug money.
