[history]
November 18, 2003 -- Nearly 40 years after President Kennedy was killed by an assassin's bullets in Dallas, a wide majority of Americans still believe that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone. A poll conducted by Court TV found that 69 percent of the nation believe there was a wider conspiracy.

For my money it was Oswald, alone. That is the most likely story.

Yeah, and 69% of people think Hillary isn't a lesbian! lol
What people think and what is true is, in America, two different things.
Just look at the UFO nuts. They have absolutely NO EVIDENCE of any kind (physical, chemical, biological) but you can still get 70% of idiots polled that UFO's exist.

The History Channel is doing a three hour set of programs on the assassination that makes a strong case otherwise.

Even if there were no evidence, circumstantial or otherwise, of a conspiracy surrounding the actual assassination, you cannot deny one troubling fact: Two days after the "hit," the assassin was killed by a man with well-known ties to organized crime. That alone will keep future generations from putting their collective heads where the "Sun don't shine."

A couple of things stick out to me. Why were witnesses who claimed Jack Ruby had met Oswald before the assassination interviewed. Not checked out and written off by investigators as not credible, but completely ignored?
Why was Oswald let back into the country after leaving Russia? Given his history, I would have had him thrown in federal prison when he tried to get back in.

I don't believe any such thing. I do believe it had to do with raw power and ambition and it has LBJ written all over it. I also believe we should not replace presidents that way. With me, it has nothing to do with liberal or conservative motives.

I don't believe in conspiracies...too many people that are far more intelligent than all of us today combined have, in the past, proven why they really don't work. Even Ben Franklin said three people can only keep a secret if two are dead and that's not even a truth.
But I'm not stupid enough to believe the Oswald one bullet theory. And I know JFK's head was massively doctored after the body was removed from the hospital and headed for D.C.
Did Oswald hit him? Yes, that's been proven. I don't care about the so-called evidence the gun wasn't capable, the ballistics proved otherwise (sure, could have been planted...oh wait, not into conpiracies).
Basically I think the government just wanted to get it out of the way and move on since times were turbulant. Again, if LBJ was that ruthless, and he was at times as he crushed others to gain profit for himself in business by using his Senate powers, he'd have kicked the commies butts in Vietnam and been stronger and ran again in 1968. So I think that proved, to me, he was weak and not capable of such an act.
I'd believe Nixon had him killed before I'd believe LBJ did. Anyway, I think the mob did it and there was a shot to the head from the knoll in front of the car. Oswald was the patsy...once shots were heard from his location, everyone looked that way. The knoll shooter was a good one with sophisticated equpiment and a silencer.
It's just too logical. Sometimes a spade is a spade. I think the mob also killed RFK and I wouldn't be surprised if Mary Jo was a plant that was supposed to harm Teddy but something went wrong, or they messed with his car.
We all know Joe Kennedy was a mobster and a Nazi sympathizer. He was ruthless with people and, over time, payback comes down the hill to run you over.

As I've said on other threads, I was a very young soldier in Germany 40 years ago. We didn't have instant news. What I do remember, when Ruby shot Oswald, was that he felt soooo bad for Jackie. That tidbit came with the news that Oswald had been shot. Just as he did at Love Field, LBJ controlled every aspect of the investigation, including the Warren Commission and it's report. imo.

Right! And Henry Marshall committed suicide by shooting himself five times with a bolt action rifle. And Malcolm Wallace's fingerprint was in "Oswald's sniper nest" at the school book depository only by some odd coincidence.

All due respect, I believe you DO believe in a conspiracy. When it comes to LBJ, that's not a bad thing.
To: leadpenny
Is it just me or does anyone else see alot of LBJ's playbook used by the Clintons?

All very nice. But what part about the A.Z. film, and "back and to the left" do your lying eyes not tell you?
To: leadpenny
I don't call the mob killing him a conspiracy. It's just a basic act they carried out.
I think, as gov't always does, they just didn't want to let the people know the whole truth and they do what they always do. It's not a conspiracy as much as it's an ingrained reaction.
I would even go as far as saying some in government actually thought they were doing what was best for the people of America to help them get over the assasination, mourn, and move on. A prolongated discussion of who, what, when, where, and why was just considered to be damaging given our situation.
What if they thought the mob was working with the commies and demanded LBJ strike the Soviet Union or Cuba. I can see these conversations happening. But I don't know, you don't know, no one knows for sure.
It all reminds me of Independence Day where they go to Area 51 near Roswell and YES, their are aliens!

Don't know which one of the two is the worst prez of the 20th Century but Clinton did not spend the time clawing his way to power in the Senate then finding himself, potentially, at the end of his career as a VP to someone he hated with a passion.
