[history]
An X in the street is supposed to mark the spot where JFK was when the fatal bullet hit as he rode with Jacqueline Kennedy. The shot was fired from the sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository.
Dallas, Texas -- You peer out the sixth-floor window of the former Texas School Book Depository and you think: It wouldn't have been that tough of a shot.

Try any shot with an Italian Mannlichter carbine over 100 yards. Either Oswald was one fantastic shot or there were more than one assassin.

I'm pretty good with a VZ24 Mauser over iron sights - get 12" groupings at 75yards without a rest.
Oswald did some good shooting. I always think of Lee Ermey's description of great marine marksmen in "Full Metal Jacket".

It was pretty bad from the standpoint of those duped by the governments position.
Everyone interviewed, even Spectre, had to admit the WCR is badly flawed.

After all is said and done I still say the most likely scenario is Oswald, acting alone.

FWIW, I seem to remember President Johnson, when asked about the assassination before he passed away, claimed that once the truth is known it will shock the nation.

"Being Irish, we grew up with JFK. He was one of us, the symbol of the Irish immigrant dream." What does Ted Kennedy symbolize to you?

(note to self): When the Secret Service strongly advises you AGAINST "riding with the top down"...The bubbletop wasn't bulletproof. If it had been installed, it may have deflected the shots or altered their trajectory somewhat if the passengers had gotten lucky, but it could just as easily have altered the trajectory enough to take out JFK and someone else riding inside. I wouldn't have felt one bit more comfortable going out in that limo with the bubbletop on if I knew a sniper was lying in wait for me.

I vaguely recall that comment, which implies that some day we ~will~ know, --- 35 years from now, when the 75 year secrecy act is lifted.

I visited Dealey Plaza in 1998 and was awestruck by the sense of history surrounding the place. It's a nice clean area, basically park-like, and I wondered what the place looked like in 1963. There seems to be a lot of newer architecture in the area that I don't believe was there 40 years ago. (Wow! I was in 5th grade 40 years ago??)
There was even a guy with a little table set up down by the street and he was selling video tapes. His name was Mark Lane, and he has written some books about the assassination.

S'okay - I never WAS a fan of 'pink pillboxes'...

If you were the POTUS and, top or not, you didn't have enough sense to understand that there are people in this world who want you dead, well... < shrug>

'Marksman' is the official name in the Marine Corps for the lowest acceptable level of shooting proficiency; I received this information verbally from a former Marine. It's no great shakes.
