[history]
The coming return of Rush Limbaugh to the famed "golden microphone" of his national bully pulpit invites us to ponder the reasons for the remarkable success of his kind of radio programming. Liberals have made numerous unsuccessful attempts to create an equally popular propaganda vehicle for the other side of the ideological spectrum. What they may lack is the element of simplicity.
Limbaugh's message is usually resoundingly and blessedly simple. (One should not assume that simplicity and truth are synonymous here.) His genius lies in reducing rather complex issues into deceptively straightforward terms. For example, the challenge of crafting environmental policies that balance legitimate economic considerations with a responsible awareness of the finitude of natural resources is dismissed as the neurotic hand wringing of tree hugging "environmentalist whackos."

What they lack is TRUTH!

When did Rush say he was looking out for the "Little guy"? That's a liberal term. Rush looks out for hard working, thinking guys and gals. That's it, that's all.As with most leftists who bash Rush, their only point of familiarity with his show and views are from talking with other Rush bashers about what they think of Rush and his views... I was listening to Rush at work one day, and a co-worker came up to me and said, smirking, "Rush is wrong!" I asked him, "Wrong about what?" His response was, "He's just wrong." After grilling him, he admitted that he had never listened to Rush, knew nothing about his views (except that he was "wrong") and had no intention of listening to him. I asked him how someone who is supposed to be good at thinking things through (he's a top notch troubleshooter and technician) could come up with views like that, based on nothing but heresay.
Over and over again, this professor states things that are based on what he and other Rush bashers believe that Rush said, without ever checking them out.
I think that my favorite part was his analysis about how we (the Rush fans) listen to him, just to feel better about ourselves, which, of course is wrong (unless you're a liberal, which is when your self image is all important!). How we're looking for validation of our (according to this pinhead) mistaken views. Of course, it wouldn't happen to do with the fact that leftists have dominated the news and information world for so long, that he feels that's the way things should be, the natural order. And more importantly, he can't understand that we're thrilled to have an unfiltered news and information source, which isn't pushing a leftist agenda.
Is Rush pushing an agenda? I think "pushing" is too hard a word. I think that he presents it, as opposed to the leftists, who shove their agenda down everyones' throats...

EXCELLENT POST
Many of many clients have never listened to Rush, and when the whole McNabb thing broke out, they said, oh see he is a racist, you listen to him, you're a racist too...etc. Except when they actually LISTENED instead of getting second hand info, it was the opposite.
Everyone on radio has an 'agenda' but not like the libs.

Another pseudo-intellectual wringing his hands over the stupidity of the masses from his ivory tower. It's not even hand-wringing; it's raw, oozing hatred resulting from pure jealousy. Limbaugh and Hannity are mind-bogglingly successful in both their careers and their ability to affect the public discourse. Ginnetty, on the other hand, is a nobody toiling away at a fourth-rate college in a town about as close to "the middle of nowhere" as one can get on Long Island, probably making about $60-70K/yr (which is no more than middle class in that part of the country). And his contribution to the public discourse is, well, these occasional rants in his local paper. Ginnetty is pissed off because he knows his reactionary worldview is being rejected by more people with each passing day, and he's fighting back the only way he knows how: By parroting the same tired old BS that the left has been using - unsuccessfully - to attack Limbaugh for fifteen years. "Limbaugh doesn't allow guests! They all say 'dittos'! QED!" Yeah, whatever pal.

Mr. Ginnetty, would you care to explain to me the complete failure of liberalism? No, sir, it's not complicated. This artcle proves that you are incapable of deep thought. Get a f-ing life and stop slandering our brave veterans.

Your sister sounds like my mom. Except I remind her she married my dad who was a hundred times more politically incorrect than Rush. "Your father is different. He's just different!" LOL

The left fails again. The truth is often simple and evil seeks to confuse.
The article seems an argument against freedom of speech and thought. The left hates true diversity. The left hates the marketplace of ideas. Why? because their ideas can be rejected. As they have consistently been rejected. The left is dying because their ideas have failed the test of history. (Nazi's, USSR, Communists, socialism, Great society; all from the same cloth.)

At least when rich Republicans take your money they do it in exchange for a product or service. Democrats take you money and give it away. You're supposed to get a good vibe from the knowledge that 10 cents on the dollar is paying people to be poor.

The highlight of Sean's show every day is that less than a minute that Marty is on the phone. I LOVE Marty! He reminds me so much of my beloved old Grandpa when I was a kid growing up in New England. Plain-spoken, down-to-earth, and the salt of the earth. I also love the honky-tonk piano that plays when Marty's on.

They live in the right country whose perpetually pure motives and universally good intentions are obvious to everyone, except for a handful of "limousine-liberal" whiners. They are even righter than right if they happen to be the correct kind of American - Republican, Caucasian and preferably male. He caught us, it's the angry white males again. The root of all evil in the world.

But their certitude consigns them to what psychoanalyst Erik Erikson called the state of psychic foreclosure. Foreclosed persons are easily attracted to the beguilingly simple, one-size-fits-all belief systems of powerful others that they adopt as their own so as to avoid the sometimes lonely rigors of personal searching. The foreclosed are the ready disciples of demagogues in every age. I believe this is called projecting.
