Our intelligence can't be this bad and fabricated. This is a blatant puff piece that could not get close to passing the rules of evidence. Are we this desperate? I'm an old intel analyst, and this is not even close to a puff piece. Multiple sources, appropriate caveats, and significant attempts at corroboration.
But you already knew that, given that you've been here on FR a whopping three days, huh?

I already read that, Johnny. As a matter of fact, I read the entire memo, not just the part that suited my agenda.
Your link proves this memo is indeed credible. Thank you.

The truth about the Saddam/OBL partnership and the location of many forbidden weapons will be revealed. At that point the RATs will be road kill and the RATmedia further exposed, disgraced and discredited. Not really. Even if all that happened as you say, the "controversy" would shift to whether Bush sat on the info for political purposes (i.e. for a new "October surprise"), and how horrible that would be.

"Alpha and Charlie Reveal Secrets of Iraq's Anthrax Weaponization Techniques"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Today's Sunday Times from London contains an article entitled Spies close in on Saddam's ailing terror mastermind. The article mainly concerns the hunt for General Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, Saddam's former deputy. But, suddenly, half way down, the article drops this bombshell:
Two top Iraqi scientists, codenamed Charlie and Alpha, are helping the coalition to learn more about Iraq's anthrax programme, Kay said. The Iraqis had made shocking innovations in the milling and drying processes needed to weaponise anthrax. Almost every week there is a new discovery that boggles your mind, Kay said.
David Kay is head of the intelligence organization in Iraq charged with finding evidence of Iraq's CBW capabilities. As far as we are aware, this is the first statement from the US government since the beginning of the Iraq war that concerns Iraq's anthrax programme. In fact, it is the first new statement concerning Iraq's anthrax programme that has been made by anybody in the last two years, since the original discussion after the US anthrax attacks concerning bentonite.
It's such a stunning statement that we really don't know what to make of it here at anthrax2001. We have always maintained that if you can find the state that uses the same processing chemicals that were used to manufacture the Daschle and Leahy anthrax then you have found the perpetrator."
NOTE: Read this whole thread. It's interesting.

News reports that the Defense Department recently confirmed new information with respect to contacts between al-Qaida and Iraq in a letter to the Senate Intelligence Committee are inaccurate. As already pointed out earlier in this thread, if you accentuate the word, "NEW", the release implies that all the information referenced in the memo was previously released, and reports that it is NEW are inaccurate.
To: tentmaker
Wrong.
The DoD meant that the stand by their intelligence reports and will not be making any changes. That is to say that the information in the memo was already known to people making policy decisions; likely, it was produced by the folks in the the Office of Special Plans close to a year ago.
Again, the information in the memo has already been considered and deemed inaccurate or not trustworthy enough compared with other sources for the administration to change its position on the nature of the relationship between AQ and Saddam's Iraq.

How true. No evidence is sufficient for one who doesn't want to believe.

I agree. I had a Top Secret Clearance when I was in the Air Force. We constantly had it drilled into us how to protect information and what we could and couldn't say. I get so mad when I hear about all these leaks, even if this one helps prove our side was right.

"But there can no longer be any serious argument about whether Saddam Hussein's Iraq worked with Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda to plot against Americans".
After reading this account, makes one wonder what games the U.N.,Germans, Russians and French were playing. The Chretien Family owns 3.5% of Total Elf Fina Petroleum, the main French oil company active in Iraq. Huge dollars. Total had nothing to gain and everything to lose in an Iraqi regime change.

While this is exciting, please keep in mind that the Left will claim that the source of this document is the same intelligence community that told us there were WMD's in Iraq (which we all know isn't true).
These apologists could watch Osama hand a briefcase full of money over to Saddam in exchange for suitcase nuke, and claim they were just exchanging greeting gifts, an old Islamic custom.
