I really hoped one of the moderates would... There was still a chance. However slim.

Call me an optimist, but I thought someone would come to their senses.

Don't recess appointments expire with the President's term?

They may bring it up but Frist told Daschle that he didn't expect anymore votes today and wanted to discuss what items they wanted to get to the floor... I suspect many Senators will be at Reagan National heading home shortly...

I read a Byron York article in National Review sometime back in which he wrote that it was generally agreed among the other senators that Leahy was the meanest of all the senators.

Isn't Leahy from the People's Republic of Vermont? If so, why doesn't that surprise me?

a recess appointee is paid for the time he serves during the congressional and can be reappointed again...he thus serves at the pleasure of the president or until he can be affirmed by the senate

I'm going to try to pull it off Google, it is working on 'Preview', but I don't know if it will come through. Please let me know if it does, since sometimes it will look like it does to me because it is on my harddrive. If I get anything, it will be thumbnail sized, but it is supposed to be 800X600. :(

Everyone, please donate $5.00 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee...They did a great job in 02' as I recall, and are our only hope of getting a filibuster proof majority next year.
