When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore'.

Aiiiyeeee! The moon is being eaten by a giant! We need to sacrifice a virgin. There's a story that Columbus was once having trouble getting some natives to deliver supplies to him. Having an astronomy almanac aboard his ship, he knew that a lunar eclipse was approaching. So he warned them that if they didn't deliver the supplies, he would cause the moon to go away. They laughed and laughed . . . and then they delivered the next day.

Maybe we're neighbors. In the Waco suburbs it's still cloudy, wet and chilly just like yesterday and the day before that, and enough already!

Thanks for the ping. :-)
Socked-in weather wise. :-(

This makes the second eclipse I've seen this year. No matter how many I witness, it still fills me with awe.
Scuttling back outside to catch the second half of the show. Brrrrr.....

Perfect night here in mid-Michigan.
She's red enough for me and the coyotes in the backwoods are howling at it.
Surreal, indeed!

Just stepped back outside, just in case..and there was a break in the clouds! There it was! Just a small orange sliver, low in the sky.
Ahh...my day is complete.

I was taking pictures from my upstairs window, cloudless sky - as the eclipse neared totality, I heard a faint wailing that became more intense and loud. It took me several seconds to understand what it was ... here in the nuclear-free zone, apparently down in the park at the end of the block - a bunch of witches or moon worshippers, or brown-acid ingesters were baying at the moon. They kept it up for several minutes, kind of spooky... and then, just as the moon was entering the full shadow...
all these high clouds (clouds of what??) rolled in and blocked any more viewing or photo-taking for me.

Thanks for the reminder!
The sky was almost clear and I watched the moon rise over the Sandia Mountains. I saw the eclipse perfectly and had fun showing and explaining it to the children.
My 10 year old currently is going through an 'astronomy phase' so the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Brrrrr.....I'll second that!
Great view here in North Jersey, only jet-trails to get in the way.
