PETA to protest NPR donation
PR Newswire | November 7, 2003 | News release

Posted on 11/07/2003 7:37:34 AM PST by GulliverSwift

WASHINGTON--After agreeing to accept a $200 million donation from the widow of McDonald's founder Ray CrocNational Public Radio, National Public Radio has come under fire from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for accepting "blood money."

Protesters gathered Wednesday morning outside of the network's Washington headquarters carrying signs with such titles as "NPR: Never Pay the Ransom," "Mourning Edition" (accompanied by a picture of a mutilated calf and "Just Say No to Blood Money."

The demonstrators said they were upset that NPR, which is known for being a voice in the progressive community would take money from a woman whose husband had profited by "murdering" millions of cattle, chickens, and pigs.

"This is just outrageous," said Josh Nichols of Arlington, Virginia. "I would hope that NPR has the integrity to turn down what is obviously intended as a bribe to get them to never cover the many outrages that have been perpetrated by a greedy multinational corporation."

When I think of all the good $200 million could do if given wisely, it just disgusts me that this rich widder women would give that kind of cash to a useless organization like NPR.

How do the lefties worm their way into the fortunes of so many of the wealthly? It's depressing.

I'm guessing this is parody.

I say applaude the gift to NPR, and immediately defund it. No more taxpayer subsidies, cut 'em off.

The free market will decide if lefty radio has merit.

You guessed right!

But I imagine we'll soon be seeing a non-parody version in the very near future.

Naw, never happen. NOW would never criticize clinton for rape. PETA would never criticize NPR for animal torture. These guys know which side their bread is buttered on.

I'm a bit confused - I thought that the leftist talking point all along has been that NPR was a straight-shooter and not biased to the left. The author must have missed the briefing on that one... I'm sure that once they realize that they have let some truth escape into their press release, they will correct the oversight...

Veal Chop Milanese With Tomato And Basil

The smallest section, of the undeveloped rib cage, of an unborn calf.. Yummmmm.. :o)

1) Pound the veal (or put on a portable cast and ask your butcher to do it), to a 1/4 inch thin and broad cutlet, leaving the bone still attached. Set aside while you prepare the breading setup.
2) Put the flour in a pie tin. Combine the eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons olive oil and salt and pepper in a large bowl or dish with sides high enough to hold the liquid and veal chops.
3) Next, combine the bread crumbs, parsley and Parmesan cheese in a large flat casserole so that the process of breading may be kept neat and tidy. (I can't stand a mess..Bwhahahahha...sorry, I digress)
4) Make the tomato vinaigrette by combining the diced tomato with the shredded basil leaves in a bowl. Stir in the lemon juice, whisk in the oil and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
5) Heat the 1/3 cup olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Cook the veal cutlets one at a time, or if they are small enough and your pan is large enough, two at a time. As you sauté the veal, brown one side and keep the veal warm in a 250 degree oven while the rest are cooked.
Serve the veal with a generous spoonful of the Tomato Basil Vinaigrette over the top.
Yields 4 to 6 servings... and after all of this work, they had better lick the plates, the funny thing is they usually do..*<]8-)

When I read the story that Mrs. Kroc gave $200 million to NPR I thoght, well now the libs have the money for their own radio network. NPR has been nothing but an arm of the DNC for years. Maybe they will take less federal money now. Wishful thinking. The GOP should have shut down federal funding of this outfit in 94 when they took over the house.

I love it!

If it were up to liberals every last one of us would be aborted and the last person would have to kill her or his self!

Than they'd be happy...in hell.
