[history]
November 6, 2003 -- GEN. Reinhard Guenzel, the head of Germany's Special Forces Command (KSK), got the hobnailed boot on Tuesday. His mistake? He expressed a bit too publicly the sort of Jew-hating sentiment tens of millions of Germans harbor privately.

Then they killed or drove away their Jews. The result? Germany's greatest contributions to world culture since 1945 have been Milli Vanilli and Gummi Bears.OK, now thats a pretty good put-down

The only thing most Germans regretted was that they lost.I'd have to disagree with the term "most". Many did, no doubt. But I think it's more of an embarrassment to them as a people than we'll ever know.

I can't give back my VW New Beetle. Anyways, the comments are beyond the pale. 500 years of German guilt seems like a fitting punishment and yes on a good day we Jews can still smell the stench from the ovens. Now the generation that survived the Holocaust may be passing on sometime in the early part of this century but rest assured their memory will never be forgotten.

Of course, there are good Germans. Plenty of them. But they live in Philadelphia, not Frankfurt. Then they're Americans.

Maybe a good putdown, but wildly inaccurate. Germany's Wirtschaftswunder of the 1950s quickly made them the world's #3 economy, where they stand today. Germany is an economic powerhouse.
I just read Anne Applebaum's book "Gulag," and it's shocking what a high percentage of GUlag officials have Jewish surnames. It's almost 100% of the ones mentioned. I was amazed by that (Applebaum herself is Jewish). I'm not prepare to blame the entire Gulag on Soviet Jews (Lenin and Stalin weren't Jewish, as the author notes), but Soviet Jews played an enormous role in the creation and operation of the Gulag, which claimed millions upon millions of lives. Maybe an inconvenient truth, but there it is in the book.

Fledermaus,
2003 World Almanac, Page 106: Germany has the 4th largest economy in the world (not 3rd, I was wrong; apparently India has just surpassed it). $2.174 trillion GNP. That's a powerhouse. Germany has been among the world's richest countries in both GNP and per capita GNP since the Wirtschaftswunder (economic miracle) of the 1950s. So summing up its contributions since WWII as "Milli Vanilli and Gummi Bears" is plain silly.
Although I do enjoy Gummi Bears...
