I was listenin' to my tape of Jerry Clower (late of Yazoo City, Mississippi) and his Coon' Huntin' story, as well as his account of Marcel Ledbetter and the chainsaw, and noticing how much Jerry Clower and Haley Barbour have in common.

DU is pretty hysterical. There are a few distinct camps there. One group is the optimists. This group think their candidate will win the next election, even if their candidate happens to be named Dennis Kucinich. Those threads are pretty entertaining.

Then there's the camp that thinks the Dems will lose everything, either because they don't stand for true leftist principals that the American people really want, or the Dems will lose everything due to Republican fraud in Diebold voting machines, or a combination of the two.

There's the "we're smarter than you" crowd, which is actually about 99% of the people there. They know best, most people are stupid. Most people are misinformed because they watch Fox News and listen to Rush Limbaugh. People don't understand the issues.

In the DU world, the White House is always successful although Bush is really dumb. But Karl Rove is the man behind the curtain, constantly outwitting the Democrats and making them look stupid and even say stupid things. All Republicans are really dumb except for Karl Rove, who is this crazy lunatic genius who can manipulate everyone. Really.

Oh, and they're socialist. No, I really mean socialist. They had a poll, and over half the group said that they were socialist. That's their word.

Oh, they think Bush "let it happen on purpose", referring to, of course, 9/11. A sizably minority thinks Bush had a hand in crashing Paul Wellstone's plane. Apparently, in this conspiracy, the Republican president was going to engineer global warming to make it colder so there'd be ice on the wings of a plane flying a liberal Senator in the only state that Walter Mondale carried against Reagan. The Senator would die, and Mondale would take his place. The Republicans knew of course, that a memorial service for Wellstone would turn into a campaign rally that would turn everyone off.

The conspiracies are hysterical. Oh, and the Dems are going to get under 100 Electoral votes in the next election. Or they're going to carry Utah.

I posted earlier that there ought to be a revolution in the dim party. McAuliff will not go quietly into the night. If and when he goes, it will be the Clintons doing. He has done their bidding, but will suffer their wrath. Once again the Clintons, being who they are, will have a scapegoat.!
