I HAVE to have turkey and home on Thanksgiving!!! Screw Ethiopian food!! My beloved husband was just in here asking my son if he wanted some "potato grain" like they have in Africa! What in the Sam Hill is "potato grain"???
Okay, okay, I know, the Ethiopian food was delectable. Okay, okay, okay.

Chad is a very youthful 30-something.
Gosh, gray hair strands... are they the wiry kind, or the softer whitish kind?

Well, I have a few grey hairs already, but I guess that comes from having two daughters nearing their teen years... ;0)

That proves nothing. There are plenty of programs out there for anyone and everyone - in fact, there are federal programs out there for everyone EXCEPT Indians.
Bottom line - there are waaaaaay too many "programs" out there - for everyone, not just Indians. Let's get rid of all of them. Period.

More specifically, for Indians living on reservations. Most have little to do with treaty obligations. These should all be eliminated since tribes claim they are sovereign nations. Which are worth more to the tribes? Which do they prefer? The Federal social welfare programs, or casinos and nearly tax free gasoline, tobacco sales?

I dunno. You're not gonna try and slip any of those Third World dishes, like potato grains, in, are you?
Yeah, yeah, the dishes. Loading the dishwasher is always such a Herculean effort!

Ahhh... here's where your mistake is - it has long been established that while "sovereign", reservations are considered "Dependent Nations" per case law, and the acts of congress that have slowly whittled away a lot of the sovereignty.
Which are worth more to the tribes? Which do they prefer? The Federal social welfare programs, or casinos and nearly tax free gasoline, tobacco sales?
Hmmm... By "nearly tax-free", of course, you mean they pay lower taxes than you, and you are extremely jealous because you get shafted by your government, and the indians don't.
Personally, I (and most indians I know) am against 99% of the "federal assistance" programs, whether they are for indians or non-indians, and I would rather fight to lower taxes for everyone instead of demanding that others pay MORE.
Wouldn't it be something if the "white" (used loosely to mean non-indian) governments stopped interfering with economic development, and lowered taxes? Apparently to you, that is not an option. You'd rather the tribal governments raised their tax rates, rather than everyone else cut theirs.
That makes you pro-tax increase, my friend.

Hee. Institutionalized. I know you were kidding, but they DO act like lunatics sometimes when they're reaching puberty, and shortly after. You'll see, ed. Your turn will come. Oh, it's gonna be fun.
