A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH (photos): 11.03.03

The President, on another busy day, visited Birmingham, AL, to speak at Crane Works, a heavy construction company, and then attended a Bush-Cheney fund-raising luncheon. He then attended a rally in London, Kentucky.

At the Crane Company, Pres. Bush said last week's report that the U.S. economy surged in the third quarter was good news for American workers and called on Congress to keep his administration's policies intact.

I also heard on Fox News that the President in planning on flying to CA to view the damage from the forest fires, which will allow him to spend another night at his ranch.

Enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya, and welcome to sanity island!

I have always wondered.... why whenever a president or governor or someone signs something in to law, why do they have so many pens?

U.S. Army soldiers Sgt. Arron Richards, left, of Dear Lodge, Mont., and Spc. April Myhre of Westby, Wis., walk through the terminal at Baltimore Washington International Airport Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in Linthincum, Md., as they prepare to fly back to Iraq after two weeks leave.

U.S. Army soldiers wait in line at Baltimore Washington International Airport in Maryland on Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 as they prepare to fly back to Iraq (news - web sites) after a two weeks of R&R leave.

This is the same airport that Mike arrived at by charter flight at 5AM this Morning.

About the pens - the tradition is to give one of them to each of the co-sponsors of the bill. However, Pres. Bush uses one pen, then hands out the rest of the commemorative pens, as a symbolic gesture. Unlike x42, he refuses to write one letter at a time with a different pen. He just signs it, and hands out the pens. I suppose the person who gets THE pen that the President actually signed, feels they've gotten something special.

And that the rest of the story.

Aren't we exactly one year from his re-election?

Seems to have time to do everythng but sign the ban on partial birth abortion and support his nominees.

The former isn't worth getting upset about (it needn't prevent even a single death). The latter is a valid point.

That's my understanding - not that the press or the Nine Nincompoops get that!

My guess is the media would like to say "we predicted his demise a year ago" - or something stupid like that.

Now we return you to the Dose, the pictures, and the many expressions of our President!

))))

President Bush usually scoops up the pens on the table with the one he used and mixes them up in his hand brfore he hands them out - no hard feelings as The Pen is anonymous.

"One year before American voters render their verdict on President George W. Bush the 2004 White House campaign is shaping up as another potential cliffhanger fought largely over economic issues and Iraq (news - web sites). Voters who will choose between Bush and a still-to-be -determined Democrat challenger on Nov. 2, 2004, are almost as concerned about the economy now as they were in late 1991, when the issue scuttled the re-election chances of former President George Bush, the current president's father, pollsters say.

My comment: -

This writer is delusional as well as biased.

Some cliffhanger!

I just heard that the Dem running for Governor in Mississippi is running as an independent with conservative leanings.

Election results toworrow will send Dems into shock.

Thanks. I was about to go to BWI with MJY1288, to meet Mike when he arrived. Since he arrived almost an hour early, I'm glad I didn't try.

But I did give away all my left-over travel frequent flier points from United, American Airlines and Delta. I found a number on the donation website to call because I wanted to insist that the points I was donating would NOT be used by Officers, contractor personnel or Gommit personnel! I wanted to make sure they were made available to 'ENLISTED ONLY'.

I had to talk to two supervisors to get that assurance but when I finally got it, then and only then did I read my Frequent Flier ID numbers and points!!!

It would just frost me to ever find out that my points had been used by someone who has the money to fly from point-of-entry to their home airport but used these donated points instead.

I'm hoping that when Mike traded in his Delta ticket for a United flight - that he got some of my points. At least, I can hold on to that fantasy for a little bit!

Thanks. I'm glad mtngrl@vrwc asked me to do it - then taught me all the stuff I needed to know to do it!

It's been fun.

I'm leaving for dinner - be back after awhile!

You enjoy, y'all.

Thanks, Mike. A "great job" from you really means something to me!

I found the picture of Mike on hoosiermama's thread, that Kathy from Alaska posts on the Canteen every day, and that gave me the idea of dedicating today's Dose to our homecoming hero.
