My guess is the media would like to say "we predicted his demise a year ago" - or something stupid like that.

I think we're inside of one year now. Because 2004 is leap year, days get forwarded two spaces next year, hence the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November is the 2nd (this year it was on a Sunday; next year, the 2nd will be on a Tuesday).
