Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Bin Laden hoax backfires in Lebanon

By Sebastian Usher
BBC News

A spoof newsflash by a TV station in Lebanon saying that Osama Bin Laden had been captured in the northern city of Tripoli was taken more seriously than the programme-makers had expected.

Arabic TV stations have aired several 'Bin Laden' tapes
Despite several clues onscreen that the bulletin was a joke, the LBC station was inundated with calls.

The rumour of Bin Laden's capture temporarily overshadowed a meeting between the Lebanese Prime Minister, Rafiq Hariri, and the Greek President, Costas Stefanopoulos.

After the programme, Lebanon's media watchdog convened an urgent meeting to look into the incident.

'Lie TV'

Lebanese viewers watching LBC's weekly satirical show Bass Mat Watan on Thursday evening could have been be forgiven for choking on their snacks as the programme was interrupted by breaking news.

One of the station's most respected news presenters, Bassam Abou Zeid, solemnly informed viewers that a major security operation was under way in Tripoli.

He said there was an attempt in progress to arrest one of the Arab world's most important and wanted figures.

A few minutes later, he reappeared to report that Bin Laden had just been arrested in the house of a former prime minister.

The station received a number of worried calls and the report was suddenly the main topic amongst the guests at the dinner Mr Hariri was hosting for Mr Stephanopoulos.

All this despite the fact that LBC had given something of a clue to the true nature of the broadcast - with the word "Live" on screen being written "Lie".

But not everyone got the message - one viewer even called the station to correct their spelling.

Bad joke

At the end of the programme, Bassam Abou Zeid appeared one more time to say it was all a joke.

A bad one, according to many newspapers in Lebanon.

A paper owned by Mr Hariri - who also owns LBC's main competitor, Future TV - called the joke irresponsible.

A source at LBC said the programme on which the spoof occurred is likely to be suspended.

That phrase of "EOM is time to trip the wire.

When reading his "trip the wire" phrase and his reference to cave of darkness, it makes me think blackout - a massive coast to coast blackout.

I live east, not that far from the Mad Cow locale and have a freezer full of beef. We are using it up bit by bit and plan to continue to do so. Had sloppy joes, tacos and chili from the most recent package. Like the thread we are on, we cannot be paranoid about our day-to-day lives. Our burger meat is from sirloin meat. Like you said, yummy.

I wondered about that, too. From earlier reports, they've moved people and things during blackouts.

I guess that post at 8:11pm,last night, was the last. I haven't read anymore over here and I can't check over there. I think someone would have posted here, had they said anything more. It was the 'time to trip the wire' post.

Does anyone know if there has been anything posted since then?

I searched google yesterday for that phrase and learned this.

It has been suggested that USAF pilots on patrol will often claim that "the wire has been tripped", the prelude to bombing, when RAF pilots have detected no threat.

Even though the Islamic threat has been around since the '70s or before (with all the hijackings), for me, the first WTC attack in 1993 and some Islamic threats after that broke the "peace" and brought it home upclose and personal. I knew we had enemies besides the homegrown enemies then. In and around 1997, there was an Islamist who shot someone dead (it may have been a male Jew) in the Empire State Building; then there was bomb making materials found in Brooklyn in the apartment of Islamists; then there was the arrest of an Islamist coming over from Canada just before 2000 in an attempt to bomb LAX, etc. Mixed in there somewhere we had the curious rumors of the real reason that Egyptian Air plane which departed from JFK was nose dived into the sea.

So, there were quite a few Islamic incidents before 911, but clintoon and company looked the other way and the lamestream media didn't run to far with the stories. But people such as Steve Emerson, Daniel Pipes and others, did not; they knew, spoke, wrote and warned about the Islamic threat. Unfortunately, 911 brought the threat into the living rooms of all Americans ever after in the short space of about 1 hour.

Right. Very good eyes Liz. Since when does State issue denials of what is clearly of DoD Operation?

What ever happened to protocol? ;)

I tried reading through most of the posts from last night but may have missed something. Was there any discussion or research on LED fire?

Most likely. I wonder if that is some passage in the Koran about the 'prophets' ride from medina to tiram.'

Light emitting diodes, commonly called LEDs, are real unsung heroes in the electronics world. They do dozens of different jobs and are found in all kinds of devices. Among other things, they form the numbers on digital clocks, transmit information from remote controls, light up watches and tell you when your appliances are turned on. Collected together, they can form images on a jumbo television screen or illuminate a traffic light.

Basically, LEDs are just tiny light bulbs that fit easily into an electrical circuit. But unlike ordinary incandescent bulbs, they don't have a filament that will burn out, and they don't get especially hot. They are illuminated solely by the movement of electrons in a semiconductor material, and they last just as long as a standard transistor.
