Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

NFL, Houston Discuss Super Bowl Security

HOUSTON - A fence has been built around the Reliant Stadium complex and metal detectors, bomb sweeps and a 12-hour no-fly zone in the area are some of the security measures being taken for the Super Bowl.


Those attending the game will have to pass through several checkpoints before entering the stadium and will be subject to searches, NFL vice president for security Milt Ahlerich said Wednesday.


A total of 25 state, federal and local law enforcement agencies will be working together to provide security at the game.


"Obviously, our first goal is prevention," Dennis Storemski, Houston's executive assistant police chief, said. "And if we make the target a little harder to deal with and pay attention to intelligence, I don't think we have anything to worry about."


While acknowledging that providing security for a major sporting event like the Super Bowl is a vast undertaking, Storemski said providing security for the Economic Summit for Industrialized Nations in 1990 and the Republican National Convention two years later was more challenging.


Security in the city has been high since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Storemski said, because of a chain of chemical plants and refineries along the Houston Ship Channel.


The Houston police SWAT team and other divisions have gone through a number of training exercises, Storemski said. He said a command center will be set up and officers will be able to monitor people via closed-circuit cameras throughout the city.


"We feel very confident about our abilities," he said. "We began our planning process over a year ago when we attended (last year's Super Bowl) in San Diego. We did that primarily for the purpose of determining what kind of issues that we might be dealing with, what kind of problems are associated with a Super Bowl that we may not have been aware of.


Once back in Houston, police came up with a comprehensive plan to deal with security, crowd control and traffic management.


"We really anticipate it is going to be a calm day for everybody to enjoy the game," Storemski said.

The book of interviews I have (The Bridge to Heaven) is from over a decade ago...some statements from the 80's. It's uncanny how her words fit today. She does refer to revolution down in Venezuela, South America. I've been thinking about how much damage such attacks might cause. Almost anything they can attempt can be mitigated. Possible hits against CentCom and NSA no doubt face tremendously daunting security layers. Radiological attacks against ports might result in the contamination being washed away into harbors during the clean-up. Chemical attacks against population centers face wind and airborne dilution.

Biological attacks come in two classes: anthrax spores and viruses. The viruses would be more harmful, but both would have the potential to really slow down our economy. I'm not saying anything new here. But retaliation in kind against such attacks would not have to be "official," or ever made known. The plagues would spread, so any bio plan could backfire for the terrorists in a really big way.

Destroying the WTC with box-cutters did not seem feasible on 9/10/01, then the next day it happened. Now they're saying that they can destroy an entire city.

Maybe a radiological bomb could render an important part of a population center or a financial center uninhabitable for some years or decades. But without a high-yield nuclear detonation or some Tesla weapon, they probably can't destroy an entire city.

And if Russia and China are sharing such devices with the jihadists, Dr. Rice knows that all of the Cold War doctrines would still be in effect; and so does our President.

DH and I will be in NYC for the weekend 1/30-2/2 on a vacation (an anniversary getaway.) We are tacking on the weekend days to a business trip to NJ he is making next week. It originally was scheduled for the following weekend, which I was OK with, but then it had to be moved up due to his work schedule. I am certain all the alphabet agencies have folks glued to communication and spy vehicles across the world: Internet websites, chat forums, etc.; spy satellites; landline phones and faxes and the cell and satellite phones; and even to the lamestream news around the globe.
