[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

I agree with you guys.
I have always said that if nothing major takes place by Feb. 4th, these guys have been thwarted.
Their backs are to the wall.
They have made so many big and repetitive threats.
If nothing happens soon their credibility is gone, even among their own.

I would think that the only way to deal any type of deadly blow to the U.S. would be for them to hit us with many strikes at once. Not 2 or 3 attacks, but as many as they can get away with. After just one attack it would be so difficult to execute anything for quite some time. That thought can be scary but I think that the U.S. intel will foil quite a few more planned attacks yet. Just my opinion.

Looks like freeper hinky meter may have been right about this one! Wonder what the French will have to say?
Pilot to blame for crash
21/01/2004 16:32 - (SA)
Cairo, Egypt - A preliminary report blames pilot error for the crash of an Egyptian charter airliner that killed all 148 people on board, most of them French tourists, a civil aviation official said on Wednesday.
The assertion is a reversal for the Egyptian government, which had insisted since shortly after the January 3 crash that the plane went down because of a technical problem.
Analysis of the voice recorder recovered from the wreckage of the plane indicated that the pilot gave no alarm to air traffic controllers, said the official of the Egyptian civil aviation ministry, who spoke only on condition of anonymity.....(snipped.....long article, most of it re-hashing what we already know)

me too, I'm not even convinced that this "song" is any evidence of a warning. Even the person claiming she got advanced warning of 9/11, I'm quite skeptical of that story. Sorry; but I just am!

Absolutely, it is the stuff that we are not hearing or know about!!!
To: appalachian_dweller
The one thing that I'm not skeptical about is that we are going to be attacked again by the ragheads. And yes, I am prepared.

>> we are going to be attacked again by the ragheads <<
Sadly, I have to agree. It just a matter of time. These people are deadly serious and very patient. They will wait until we're back to sleep. It could be tomorrow, next week, next year, or next decade.
The only way I see to get rid of the threat is to destroy the entire ME region and we won't do that.

A modern day inquisition is about the only way I see to put an end to the threat, for the next couple hundred of years anyway.
To: Velveeta
how was "pilot error" determined?
To: knak
LOL - I'm guessing that is a colloquialism, similar to the word used in my area - "hoaky", i.e., not quite right, or fishy, etc. Another FReeper used that word earlier in this thread, and it stuck to my brain!

I would think that the only way to deal any type of deadly blow to the U.S. would be for them to hit us with many strikes at once.I agree.
Frankly I'd think it would be difficult for them to acquire and then to hide enough nukes from radiation monitors etc to deliver a crippling blow to the US ... if we found even one the game would probably be up for their plans. One or two nukes possibly, but not the dozens that would be needed for a truely crippling blow.
Infectious biologicals can be much more deadly than a couple of nukes and much more easily hidden, since they're not possible to detect with external sensors until they're actually released. Plus you might only need a few dissemination points if the agent is infectious enough. That's especially true if you aren't too concerned about losing a few hundred million of your own people in the blowback from the spreading infection and any retaliation that might take place. And I don't think that they'd think that was an unreasonable price to pay. :-(
Many of the people in the Middle East don't truely grasp the size of the United States - many of their countries are relatively small, and even if they do have a significant land area much of it is uninhabitable. I suspect that many of them - even those who have spent a little bit of time here - don't really grasp the size of such an undertaking. There are various family stories about visitors from that part of the world asking about taking an afternoon trip up to Niagara Falls from oh, say, Pittsburgh and being astounded that it was a 450 mile round trip - they look so close together on the map. :-)

Yes, you too! I know that several FReepers were interested in the outcome of this crash. Hopefully nobody will take offense if I haven't pinged them. It's too hard to try to track back through this enormous thread.

Hinky is best described as a "feeling that something is just not kosher".

I have always said that if nothing major takes place by Feb. 4th, these guys have been thwarted. Their backs are to the wall. They have made so many big and repetitive threats.I tend to agree with you except I'm not willing to assume that AQ has made any threat specific to 01.02.04 or any other date or deadline. AQ will strike when they can, not when some calander says that they should. Although EOM and Daajeh have made these threats, I'm not about to give a whole lot of weight to their words, notwithstanding the belief of some of the internet spooks that regularly post on this thread that EOM and Daajeh are, in fact, the real thing. Maybe they are, maybe thay aren't, but until I actually see convincing evidence (as opposed to being told by the internet spooks that the evidence exists, but we can't see it), I'm not about to give a lot of credibility to the 02.02 deadline, which I'm sure will be extended by those "in the know" for reasons they won't disclose until after the deadline has come and pass without a major event. Don't misunderstand me. I believe the situation is very serious and will remain so for many years to come, and I do appreciate the many, many thoughtful posts on this thread, especially yours. But I'm not about to liquidate my portfolio and duck tape my house just because EOM/Daajeh tell us the sky is going to fall by 02.02 and a couple of people who run internet spook sites tell us that we should believe them.

Re- song. Interesting. I had read that OBL wanted the 9/11 hijackers to be from SA, so that the relationship between the US and SA would be damaged. He had plenty of other choices- Yemenis etc.

So far officially, it's "anonymous sources". The Egyptians were quick to claim that this was NOT terrorism. In fact, they claimed it about 5 minutes after the crash and shortly after the call came in with a terrorist group claiming responsibility.
Yesterday, after a quick cursory exam of the 2 black boxes, the Egyptians again ran out to the press and reiterated that there was no "outside intervention" (i.e. explosion from rpg or bomb), hence there was NO terrorism. But! As of yesterday, reports were that the voice recorder needed to be "closely" analyzed because it was noisy. The Egyptian investigator stated that they hadn't ruled out "mismanagement" of the flight.
There was no distress call from the pilot.
Pilot has strange (very) background.
Plane nosedived straight into the Red Sea.
Planeload of French passengers.
Call from terrorist organization claiming responsibility because of the French banning headscarves.
