Fifteen American soldiers have been killed and 21 wounded in an attack on a US military helicopter in Iraq, the US military has confirmed.Do the wounded ever die anymore? Seems I never hear the wounded being added to the number killed on the news reports.

Probably a nail in Rumsfeld's coffin. GWB has a dilema. Many sad events such as this will force a policy change.
The policy cannot change politically while Rumsfeld is
Defense Secretary, he has made too many declarations.

"New Republic senior editor Lawrence Kaplan recently wrote on 'Americas near-invisible wounded.' Bob speaks with Kaplan about covering the wounded and why the media seem to be steering clear."

Do the wounded ever die anymore? Seems I never hear the wounded being added to the number killed on the news reports. The number killed started at 12, and has now increased to 15. So either some wounded died or there was just a better accounting.
However, military medicine has improved to the point where wounded are much less likely to die than in previous wars. The ratio of wounded to killed is reportedly 7 to 1, whereas 2 to 1 would have been more typical earlier.
