This is the prevalent body of Jews, our unacknowledged third party – the party of Zionism, Holocaust promotion, secularism, sexual license (including "gay rights" and legal abortion), and an aggressive U.S. foreign policy (in the interests of Israel, not the United States itself). I agree with you. Paleos are non-interventionists and stick to it. But you find that the paleo writers (a) almost never write about Kashmir, for example, (b) criticize everything Israel does and (c) tend to talk about Israeli politics even when there's no issue of US involvement.

I notice that "paleo" and "paleocon" didn't occur in Sobran's article, but the poster's motive, as revealed by his "'true conservatives' of the paleocon right" salvo, is to provide some rationale for "turning our backs on paleoconservatism," however the heck that's defined.

I was at a Jewish wedding over the weekend. I had forgotten, that it's not unusual at them for the bar to be open before the ceremony, so once the ceremony starts, everyone is sitting there in their chairs watching with a drink in their hand.

It usually works out that they have just about gotten to the maudlin stage by then, so there are even more tears than usual during the proceedings.

Terrific fun, lots of dancing, drinking, eating.

Gosh, I would, as would anyone else with at least the good sense that God gave a crabapple.

The truth is that blacks, such as J. Jackson or Al Sharpton, and that whole kind of thinking they represent are referred to as welfare pimps. Is this indicative of racism? Are Michael Reagan and Rush Limbaugh racists? Blacks like Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams don't fit this category, and Sobran also makes the distinction between the kind of Jew he thinks would share his conservative principles and the ones that don't. Sobran is clearly addressing discussing ideologies, not race.

Your pro-Israel views are unfortunately not shared by other traditional Catholics like Sobran and Buchanan, and I think part of the reason is that they are very sour on contemporary American/Western society, view it as apostate, vulgar, and morally corrupt, and therefore have a secret admiration for Islamic societies in which traditional religious values remain dominant.

Excellent point. Also, the identification of theocratic politics with Islamofascist terrorism, like the identification of racism with Nazi extermination, marginalizes them more than ever.

It certainly doesn't sound like Mr. Sobran is a Christian. Apporopos to the fact that, were he, he would know why the American media and the world are so fixated upon and "obsessed" with Israel.

The Bible makes many predictions, some of which have to do with what people of Faith refer to as the End Times.

Among the End Times prophecies are that the Nation-state of Israel would be re-established as a homeland for the Jews.

That this would occur at a point in world history when men would be "racing to and fro across the planet" (jet travel?).

At a time when people would not only do reporbate things, but when large chunks of the population would sit and applaud these reprobates (Jerry Springer?).

And here is the key: At this time, the tiny Nation-state of Israel will "hang like a large stone about the neck" of the entire world.

Not a week, or in many instances, a day will pass without world headlines being dominated by news about Israel.

These prophecies were made almost two thousand years ago. The Word of God is perfect, the perfect Truth.
