ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST -- A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies caught him setting a fire in a steep, remote canyon filled with dry brush and large trees in the Angeles National Forest, according to sheriff detectives.

Hikers in a remote trail about a half-mile north of the Eaton Canyon Bridge in Altadena saw a man making a fire there and alerted authorities, sheriff's Detective Ed Nordskog said.

Los Angeles County Parks officials and deputies arrived about 10 a.m. as the man was standing next to a fire about four feet in diameter. He warned the deputies to stay away and not extinguish the blaze, Nordskog said.

The man, identified as Dikran Armouchian, 23, of Pasadena,

Have you bothered to read any replies to this thread at all?

Of course, it's entirely possible that he's some sort of rebelling-against-his family Muslim convert, but I think that's a sort of grasping-at-straws position.

"Dikran" appears to be a traditional name for Armenian Kings in both the pre- and post-Christian period.

It's hard to see how anyone that wasn't an Armenian would be named Dikran.

Here's a sketch of one of the suspects...

Wasn't there a second, and a white van?

Gack! I used to live near Eaton Canyon; good thing this idiot didn't get it ignited, the place hasn't completely burned in years.

Arson has been a component of wildfires for decades.

Independent pyromaniacs have been a part of society for thousands of years. It's too tempting when you see fires on TV and it's so easy to start.

Helpful hint:

When developing a logical position on something, you examine the avaliable evidence, and reach the most likely conclusion; you don't determine what conclusion you want and then look for evidence to suport it.

I doubt there's ONE guy or one group doing the arsons; quite likely will turn out to be a variety of non-connected people.

Hey, you should post a map of Glendale, CA up there...since 110,000 Armenians live there. The Armenian Church split from the Eastern Orthodox, and they hate Muslims too....since it was the Turks who did there think in 1918 or whatever it was.

I bet this is the guy that lit the Burbank Fire last week though....would fit perfectly.

Hey, a lot of houses have burned to the ground... if this is terrorism then I am just trying to figure out if it is likely. Armenia is in a very hostile neighborhood.... you don't expect the gov. to give you the straight answers do you??? Consider how fast they killed Macvey...

He is most likely not one of those two. He was not found anywhere near the same location as the two suspects in the van. Most likely a copycat arsonist. They have been expecting something like this and police have been checking IDs of anyone driving in the area.

I don't hate Muslims by the way, that is pretty small to say that kind of stuff, especially when I posted the religions of Armenia.

It is a possible theory that was in the Al Queda hand book, it is Ramadan and we have the worse fire in the history of California...

Helpful hint:

When developing a logical position don't close your eyes because it is ugly.

Sometimes boys name Dikran find common cause with Islamic terrorists. Conversion is not unthinkable.

By the way, have the fires been in areas that voted to recall Davis? I have heard Simi Valley and San Diego. Maybe I am a black helicopter type, but this whole thing smells.
