ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST -- A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies caught him setting a fire in a steep, remote canyon filled with dry brush and large trees in the Angeles National Forest, according to sheriff detectives.
Hikers in a remote trail about a half-mile north of the Eaton Canyon Bridge in Altadena saw a man making a fire there and alerted authorities, sheriff's Detective Ed Nordskog said.
Los Angeles County Parks officials and deputies arrived about 10 a.m. as the man was standing next to a fire about four feet in diameter. He warned the deputies to stay away and not extinguish the blaze, Nordskog said.

I have an Ionic Breeze...works fantastic...the air is heavy with smoke here and being inside I didn't notice it. Went outside for two hours and am having a hard time breathing. Glad to be back home.
There were reported to be two people in the van John.
Its not one fire. Its numerous fires. An entire small mountain town in San Diego is gone. Off the map. The Mountain communities of Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear, where 10's of thousands of homes are, may be lost.
We just got through a hot summer and a hot 4th of July were numerous fires broke out due to fireworks. All these fires were easily and quickly contained. The first major fires this past week began before the Santa Anas. The most deadly ones were set as the Santa Anas were beginning to enter the area.
Nice cover story. Lets see his name and picture please.
that the suspects who were witnessed tossing something out of a grey van that started the San Bernardino fire were both white?
So there are no white muslims ? Wow that Spanish inquisition must have been real effective.
Some of these fires were normal. Camp Pendelton frequently sets fires due to military ordinance. Thats one.
Probably no connection to votes for the Davis recall. If there were, the whole granolized state would be ablaze....
Yeah, I know :-( The fire that wiped out Laguna Beach was actually multiple fires. I'm hoping Julian will be ok (three firefighters have been hurt already while fighting that fire). It's looking very serious that way. I'm watching the fire approaching the 5 over in Santa Clariat (on tv). A firechief said he thought if Lake Arrowhead began to go, it could possibly be the worst fire California ever experienced because of all the dead trees. This is all so sad. The lost town starts with a C but I'm not familiar with it.
The Santa Anas have exacerbated the situation. That's what usually happens and why the fires at this time of year are more of a threat than the ones you refer to in the summer.
What type of name is this? Anyone hazard a guess?
When I bought mine they were willing to do a 30 or 60 day ( I don't recall which) return no problem. I bet they do that still.
5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern!
