Yeah... I wish I could be up there supplying water / coffee and food... They really need to keep that fire south of 330... too many homes on the north side... not to mention the tens of thousands of dead trees (bark beetle) in the Deep Creek valley between Lake Arrowhead and Green Valley Lake.

Fire on 330 at Lone Pine (?) is getting bigger near a call box. (Not sure on the crossing street.)

Power is out to Silverwood Lake area.

asked a poster if SoCal was gonna get a show tonight. They replied 'land based'..stupid me duhhhh..didn't pick up on the reply until a further post linked to satellite shots of SoCal fires...I got a little testy and told them I was well aware of the land based show as I lived 8 miles from an edge of one of the fires...maybe wasn't so nice..but I felt better for it. :)

You and me, both. For the record, In & Out Burgers are supplying food to firelines; I keep seeing the trucks hitting stores all over the place for restocking before driving out again. Walmart has also been running loads of water and juice up to FF's.

The bark beetle-infested trees do need to be removed, and a fire would be good for them in a way... but with all of the homes there, it would have to be a very carefully-controlled burn. What they have now is anything but a controlled burn, unfortunately. :(

Silverwood Lake is approx 7 miles NW of Crestline... along Hwy 138. Hwy 138 runs kind of NW / SE off of Interstate 15 right before the Cajon Pass heading into Victorville (towards Vegas). If you take 138 off of the 15 and head NW, you're heading up to Snow Summit (Wrightwood)... 138 SE off the 15 takes you into Silverwood / Mohave River.

Hee! I probably would've been a bit grumpy, too. Heaven only knows I've been fighting the biting urge to slam some folks who've made dumb posts in other places. ;)

I've got friends on the NW side at Indian Springs Ranch; am praying that the fire doesn't somehow get out of Silverwood and down the mountain.

Very cool update! Hope that their estimated time of containment is dead on - or early - for each of those...!

92122 zip is in an area west of the Miramar Air Station in and near a section called University City and the University Towne Center mall. The western edge of the Cedar fire got close enough to close the 805 freeway for a time (eastern edge of the zipcode area), but I don't believe that zip suffered any more than from all the smoke we have down here. Your relatives should be OK.

Thank you kindly for your prayers - we do need them.

Ahh - University City region. No, I don't think that there was any damage there, or else it probably would've been mentioned specifically on the news. :)

Thanks for letting her know - I don't know my San Diego zipcodes well enough. ;)

Santa's Village was an awesome place to go as a small kid. I loved it. Of course, the older I got, the more that the interest was lost in doing anything other than riding the rides...

I /think/ that somewhere around the house, I still have an ancient park map for it. Not sure where it is, but I kept it since I was a little kid. :)
