Professional goverment officials (Gumby). must complete 300 forms in triplicate before anything is done. Hopefully, Arnold will do things like our business - respond with "YES" and ask for the ETA......Yes, government loves paperwork, and the fed is especially in love with it. I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can expidite action without having to fill out forms ahead of time. Unfortunately, I have to fill out all kinds of paperwork after the fact. The paperwork takes longer than the actual action.

Chuck Henry said there were 2-3 homeowners still there in that Hookcreek area when he went in there with the fire department who fought and I think saved their homes. He said 3 houses still standing all the rest gone. I can't imagine being in that firestorm!! They are lucky they made it through.
The firemen said there was no water pressure because it was an old system, ironically they were only 1/4 mile from the lake.

Apparently your studio feed is linked directly to the MSNBC feed. I went over there and got color bars after MSNBC went down. It appears both are back up now.

(I'm a recovering environmentalist - does anyone know of a 12-step program I can join?)
Also just heard that people with losses can immediately file with IRS for refund on their taxes. I didn't catch the whole story but anyone affected should check this out with an accountant.

Evening Gramma, THe owls thrive in areas that have been recently logged. The hunting is much easier for them. The enviro-wackos just love their junk science.
Hope Grampa made it home okay.

Despite the valiant, courageous effort, the firefighter that Sparky was interviewing seemed almost resigned to the idea that the fire will reach Lake Arrowhead's shore.

But the fire rages all night...From my brief experience fighting fire on a neighbors farm for three days & nights non stop, the nature of fire changes considerably after sunset. Not sure why or how but it does.

Despite what Whoreraldo says, Julian is still in play. Geraldo said that Lake Arrowhead was saved yesterday! Several strike teams have been pulled from the Paradise fire to reinforce the Julian fire..my brother's included. They refueled at the Rancho Bernado FS, had 2 hours of r&r and, interestly, filled their 4X4 brush rigs with a new foam retardant agent that is "state of the art". Their mission is to slime every dwelling in Julian. My sister-in-law and many other families were invited to the RB FS to be with together for about 30 minutes til the teams pulled out. They have reached the scene now.Whoraldo is an idiot and your brother is a hero. There's so much fire left to battle yet. Until the last embers are no longer aglow, then the fire isn't dead.

Just to let you know, we have a Gifford Pinchot State park here. It is just north of York, PA. It is beautiful but polutted. A small lake, I wouldn't go in it because the locals all come up and mess it up. It's a liberal thing I guess. They have the right to ruin it.
