Thanks. I can barely keep my eyes open but I don't want to go to sleep before I know about Julian.

There's a bunch of info on post #171. Follow that link, too, to rimoftheworld.com.

I am hearing something about Kentwood being all destroyed....off the 78....
To: Ladypixel
I don't know. I think the fire must be ther by now. The fire moves fast and last I hear it was about 1 - 2 miles form Julian.

Idiots. *sigh* Well, from what I understand, the FF are getting the full name, DOB, and contact info for the person's dentist from each person who refuses to leave. If there's kids there, the FF are taking the children out of harm's way. That's standard procedure right now, anyhow...
If those guys don't leave now, they may find that being on the middle of the lake could be just as fatal as being in the fire. Can you imagine a hot fire against a lake? That's steam cookin'...

Have you followed the earlier updates on Julian in the past hour on this thread? ETA of fire at Julian should be this hour with 200 FF waiting to meet it.

If you live near an affected area, take it to the nearest CDF, USFS or city/county fire station that you can get to. Very often the local crews return there after their shifts. There is usually someone there to recieve the donations. If you'd rather help the displaced souls whose homes and lives are at the very heart of these disasters, I suggest giving to the Red Cross (they need just about EVERYTHING!)
To: It's me
Yup - the 1-2 mile report happened at the same time as the 90-minute report occurred. It could speed up, but I haven't heard anything on it.

ugh. What's plan B for them, when they discover the lake is covered with a thick layer of soot?

In the Devil's Hole fire a few years back just to the east of Lake Arrowhead, people saved themselve by jumping in Deep Creek. The fire was started in early July by a kid with a sparkler

I love Julian too. I'm praying for the safety and the success of the brave firefighters. I'm just too worn-out to stay up any longer.
How are YOU doing?

Ugh. Am flipping through local TV stations, looking for fire news. Ch. 2: Letterman. 4: Leno. 5: Some unknown sitcom. 7: Fire news! Yaaay! 9: 11: Married with Children 13: Not gonna even bother. It's probably nothing useful.
So Channel 7, the local ABC affiliate, is still being good. Thank goodness.
Showing pictures of the evac centers in San Bernardino right now.

But that one wasn't nearly as large as what's going on up there now, which is why I'd think it could be much worse. Still, the lake is far safer than staying by the house, if they refuse to leave town...

Hey do you know how far the fire is from Big Bear? How bad are the winds? And are they blowing that way?
