KFI says GoodWill will take donations of goods for the fire victims. Please, no stained or trashed stuff.

Just got off line with friends from Lake Arrowhead. They are safe but left when FF's first asked. Didn't stay around hoping for conditions to improve. They do believe they'll be starting over, after this. Says people are VERY ANGRY these are arson fires. Everyone knows these are arson fires and they all want a piece of the politicos, and firebugs. He just went on and on and I've never heard he nor his wife so upset, as now.

I haven't heard from him since early morning. He said they gave him and other strike teams expert chain saw dudes from Oregon and he was very upbeat. He said he would point to 5 or 6 trees and within minutes these guys had em' down. Maybe they stopped the advance toward Palomar and now are focusing on Ramona?

There's a map on post 1481...I don't know if that's what you want. If not, why not use MapQuest? You can get a general overview of the area.

If I am correct, this is the intersection that fell down when the 1971 earthquake happened.

And then the same blasted overpass collapsed during the Northridge quake - it's tough getting in and out of the Newhall pass without that sweep, so thousands of us that worked out of the valley were leaving at 3am to get to work by 8 - did this from January until around the end of June. We all got to creep along The Old Road (one lane, eventually switched to two).

Yeah. One killed, and 2 injured is what we've heard. Do you know anything about the condition of the 2?

new I-5 stuff is LAC. vicinity of where the 14 meets it, afaik.

Arrowhead has fires all around. Stevenson Ranch flared up again earlier. I don't think the two SD fires merged. I have no words on NM, but there are now two fires burning in or around Boulder, CO.

"... He said they gave him and other strike teams expert chain saw dudes from Oregon and he was very upbeat. He said he would point to 5 or 6 trees and within minutes these guys had em' down"

That's what I like to hear. Expert chainsaw-men whacking those damned dead 'Golden Pines' down.

We should have had them in action before the fire, and will need them even more when this is over --- no matter how loud the evil tree-buggering envirofascists scream.
