I don't see how this situation could possibly get any worse.

Damn, I wish you hadn't said that, kiddo!

Just coming online. Jumped in around post 1400. Cannot read all posts. Please forgive my asking some questions to catch up.....

Fires near I-5. Is that in LA or SD county?

What's happening in the town of Arrowhead? I know the area surrounding was very serious last nite, but what about the town itself?

What new fires are we dealing with today? Did I read that the fires are into the San Fernando Valley??

Did the two SD fires merge?

What's the word on the NM fires?

This may have already been posted -- and it may be the only actual news I can contribute! -- but 2 or 3 C-130's and National Guardsmen took off this morning from North Carolina. Heard that on the 30 second radio report today, up from usual 5 seconds.

Lord God, we continue to plead for Your hand and Your Holy Spirit to move quickly to help us! Please, God, we ask for a miracle in Jesus' name. Amen.

This is reported via ABC:

Lots of white smoke being seen around Lake Arrowhead. Showing pics of Mammoth Drive right now; house intact! FF there. Fire moving quickly due to beetle-infested trees still, but a really strong aerial assault has been doing wonders for keeping fire from the lake. Water drops/fire retardant drops going now; water is being pulled from lake.

More smoke going up from Cedar Glen area, though.

Freeway reopened in Newhall Pass; police escorts taking people through. (Stevenson Ranch area.)

Freeway used as a fire break earlier today, ABC reports.

Crap, I'm running late to get ready for work; must tear myself away. Will be back later.

The backed-up traffic is on the northbound I-5 by the interchange to the 14. (Did they close the 5?) BTW, the eastbound 14 to the southbound 5 overpass is where a CHP motorcyle cop plunged to his death in the Northridge earthquake when the span collapsed.
