Thanks. I saw a reporter near the corner of Ranchero and Maple an hour ago and the gusts of wind pushed her around pretty good but no fire so far. That is 1/2 block from where my house stands. So far, I think only Hesperia Lake has been in danger. That's where mountain folks with motor homes, etc., were spending evacuation. Now, again....poor people!!

A firefighter,..a HUMAN'S life is NOT WORTH a house!!

Prayers to their family and friends....and more for all the other brave firefighters out there.

Fox 6 News reporting 3 firefighters have lost their lives in/near the town of Julian. :(Terrible, tragic news. Prayers for God's comfort and blessings to their loved ones. Now these brave folk who gave themselves to help others will rest in the Everlasting Arms.

I have a friend who lives near Hesperia Lake, and she has not been evac'd yet; she's north and west a little ways, but there's those hills in between.
Siiiiigh - I go up to Hesperia Lake the first weekend of May, every year; don't want that area to burn! Not that I've wanted anywhere else to burn, either, but... *sigh*
This is terrible.

Oh no. Firefighting is a dangerous occupation, and these fires are so huge, and fire behavior can be unpredicitable at times, when there are extreme conditions. Prayers for their families.

Most of deaths in Cedar Fire so far were people who did not heed mandantory evac orders, ABC says.
Current totals:
950 square miles burned
Deaths: 17
2000 homes destroyed
11,000 firefighters working
Costliest disaster in state history.
Death toll confirmation-wise was 17, does not include the three firefighters who were killed, so actual death total is 20.
