Uh Oh just read on another thread a significant fire has broken out outside of Boulder, Colo. Had to evacuate a small town. Said they are "a little short of equipment as they sent it to CA.

MSNBC webcam: Looks like structures burning. Not sure where.

For what its worth, we now have fires in the Denver area - in Boulder to the north and Douglas county to the south. High winds, hot and dry.

I think that guy may have been the forestry chief who is technically responsible for calling in the military aircraft...I've never heard anyone use the word "disingenuous" so often in five minutes before :).

Near Stevenson Ranch/I-5 area (CBS Webcam):
To: Brad's Gramma
One is in Castaic. I5 is closed both ways (fire jumped the I5 freeway!) and the fire is getting nearer to her home. She also has a home in Frazier Park but no way to easily get there due to I5 and some indirect roads being blocked.
The other sister was evacuated from Big Bear yesterday, and went to her other home in the Mentone area. Now that area is on evacuation notice (not mandatory).

Ch. 7 LA area now reporting on Julian. Firetrucks line the streets of the town - hey, there's Mom's Pies. Town just to the north, Santa Isabel (sp?) is in path of fire; FF reporting fire has moved into Santa Isabel and homes are being lost.
233,000 acres burned by Cedar fire, 10 deaths.
Winds described as extremely erratic, gusts up to 40mph. Makes it tough to get a handle on the blaze.
Downtown Julian, however, where the hotel is, is safe - reporter's there, no flames in camera view.

Hey, I am very late in answering because when I got up, we were under mandatory evacuation in South Hesperia so I left in a hurry. I am at the new Holiday Inn in Barstow on their computer. It's very smoky over here, too, but at least I feel confident the flames won't reach this far. Of course, that's what I thought where I live!
Ch 4 concentrates on Stevenson Ranch but they did say the flames hadn't gotten into the city of Hesperia. More later. Hope you're okay.

It's going to be a bigger mess and much help needed.

Fire broke out at Ruidoso, NM yesterday, too.

I thought so too, and thought yep, incompetent, ill informed, useless, in fact, and VERY defensive.
