Thanks for the tip re ash & cars. Just what we need, something else to worry about (grin). Hard to complain, though, compared to what so many are going through, huh?

"...this is the Twin Peaks Substation that is being evacuated"
Darn, are things looking worse again for Twin Peaks? It had sounded more hopeful there in hours past. My DSL connection hasn't been working all morning and I'm just now catching up on the thread.
To: lainie
Is Summit Valley, Hesperia area starting to evacuate? I just got home and hear some rumblings on the news.
To: GOPrincess
I rinsed ours off yesterday morning....I thought thoroughly...about 10 minutes on each car...and still I noticed that there was ash on the cars.

I'm catching up on the news and the thread...saw a scrolling notice on TV that Redlands and Yucaipa schools are closed today. Is this due to the air quality or are there other concerns about the fire location, anyone know more?
KABC7, lady on the phone recognizes the burning house as hers.

Winds picking up in mountains - Red Flag Warning alert will be issued tonight as winds pick up. Not good news for East SD county fires
Fire on N/side of Pine Valley
3000 FF in East SD county
Wind, weather not cooperating.
Gusting to 35 mph
To: Mrs.Liberty
I'd kinda figured that I'd wait till this was over since the ash is coming down constantly...unfortunately no room for cars in garage right now. But I wonder now if I should be rinsing a few times a day or something...
To: Conservative4Ever
doing allright, thanks
I'm a bit worried about CDF backfiring near MEntone. If the wind shifts it's going to push that right at my house

To: GOPrincess
I wondered too..if I should wait. Hubby rinsed them off again this morning. We don't have any room in the garage either.

Looks like darn good progress. I hope so, but I'm not sure how to tell from those pictures other than that the wind direction changed. The scale is different in the two maps. Notice the size of the Salton Sea (the green thing, East of the San Diego fires)
To: 24-7Freeper
as far as I've heard, Phelan is not in danger. It's west of Hesperia, and the winds are blowing into the north & east
To: halfdome; nicmarlo
Yeah, KEEP YOUR EYES peeled.....we're (shhhhhh) so far fine here.
Thanks Nic, for the ping.
To: WestCoastGal
Yes. Summit Valley and southern, first-in-the-path, whatever that would be, of Hesperia are evacuating
To: Conservative4Ever
Thanks for the info re those school districts.

"CH 9 was showing Squints Ranch NE of Lake Arrowhead about to burn. BJ or somebody is manning the dozers cutting a fire breaks like a madman. Go BJ go."There was a guy last night on a bicycle with a load of bags on his back going to that ranch from Arrowhead, he was somehwere along the Rim Hwy and was interviewed by news. He said he had no car and was going to travel 3 miles through that mess by bike, I wonder if he's one of the ones trying to save it now? He also said his neighbor who was a Dr told him to go there because it was safe!!
